Samsung Gear S vs Gear Fit Photo Gallery

Samsung announced the Gear S smartwatch in August and it went on sale  in India earlier this month for Rs 27,900. We have already seen the unboxing and the photo gallery of the smartwatch and also went handson with it at IFA Berlin. Now lets compare the smartwatch to the Samsung Gear Fit fitness tracker that was announced in February and launched in India in April and is now selling for Rs. 8,159.

Samsung Gear S is a smartwatch running on company’s homegrown OS Tizen. It sports a 2 inch (360 x 480 pixels) curved Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 1GHz Dual-Core processor. On the other hand the Gear Fit is a fitness tracker and that has a square screen, this has a wide 1.84-inch (432 x 128 pixels) Curved Super AMOLED display. The Gear S has a 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage while Fit has 4GB internal memory.

The Gear S is 12.5mm thick and weighs about 67g while the Gear Fit measure 23.4 x 57.4 x 11.95 mm and weighs 27g. Both the devices have IP67 certification for Dust and Water Resistance. One of the key features of the Gear S is a built in SIM card slot that lets you independently make and receive calls, without connecting to a device and also offers 3G support.

You can also get calls forwarded from your smartphone. Apart from 3G and Bluetooth 4.1 support, it also has WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and A-GPS/ GLONASS support. While the Gear Fit only supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE and offers Notifications for calls, SMS, E-Mails and more, when paired with Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Coming to features, the Gear S has Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Ambient Light, UV, Barometer while the Gear Fit offers a Pedometer, Heart Rate sensor, Accelerometer and Gyro sensors. Both the devices have the heart rate sensor at the back of the screen. The battery on the Gear S is 300mAh Li-ion that promises up to 2 days of battery life while  the Gear Fit comes with a 210mAh battery that last for 3-4 days of typical usage.

Samsung Gear S comes in black color and you can choose from a strap, while the Samsung Gear Fit comes with changeable straps in Black, Orange and Mocha Grey.
