Facebook said to bring ads inside Messenger soon


Facebook is eyeing to bring advertisements to Messenger in Q2 2016, as per a leaked document that was obtained by Tech Crunch. As per the documents, ads will only appear in message threads with businesses and businesses being able to serve ads to people who previously initiated a chat with them via Messenger.

The report also adds that businesses could start interacting or creating threads with people now, so that they can push advertisements once the product launches. In addition, Facebook is also allowing businesses to use custom URLs that customers can click to initiate a chat. The URL fb.com/msg/ will let businesses to link back to a new message thread with their page. Currently, it is not clear what form of ads will come to Messenger

Talking about ads in Messenger, Facebook told Tech Crunch,

Our aim with Messenger is to create a high quality, engaging experience for 800 million people around the world, and that includes ensuring people do not experience unwanted messages of any type.

It is not official at the moment if Facebook will actually bring ads to Messenger.
