Twitter allows you to add birthday to your profile

Twitter wants to do their bit to make your birthday more special. The micro blogging site is taking a cue from Facebook and is letting users add their birthday to Twitter profile.

On your birthday, Twitter will shower your profile with animated colorful balloons that move upwards on your first visit or when you refresh the page. The latest birthday feature is completely optional and you can always decide whether you want to show it on your profile. Users can choose between sharing their birthday with the public, their followers, people they follow, people they follow who follow them back or “only me.” To add your birth date to your Twitter profile, choose the “Edit profile” option on Twitter.com. Your birthday will shown to those who can view your profile; you can also choose to enter the month, day and year of your birthday or any combination of that info.

Users’ birthdays will now be displayed on the upper-left-hand side of their profile pages, under their profile photos and just beneath the line indicating when they joined Twitter. Twitter said that it will use your birthday to “show you more relevant content, including ads.” This essentially means that Twitter wants you to be an easy target to show ads. The latest feature comes from the company as it has been going the extra mile to garner advertising revenues.
