YouTube brings 60fps video streams to Android and iPhone

YouTube is now bringing the 60 frames per seconds videos to its mobile apps. This brings the mobile apps in line with YouTube on the desktop, Apple TV, PlayStation 3, and PS4.

YouTube expanded the 60fps video feature to livestreams as well in May. Earlier this year, YouTube also introduced support for 60fps 4K video. The latest feature improves the gaming experience for users and also for high power action videos. Users will find that when watching a video in the YouTube app where 60fps is available, it should default to the higher frame rate on HD, providing you have a fast connection. Presently, the 60fps video can be seen only on mobile apps for Android and iOS and not via YouTube on a mobile browser or third-party apps.

The latest move comes from YouTube as it is facing a competition from the latest popular app Twitch that live-streams games and esports. Last month, Google announced that YouTube Gaming is coming this summer.
