Panasonic Toughpad FZ-E1 and FZ-X1 rugged smartphones unveiled

Panasonic has unveiled two new rugged smartphones in the Toughpad series. The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-E1 runs on Windows Embedded 8 Handheld platform and is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) processor, and the Toughpad FZ-X1 runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro (APQ8064T) processor. These also have LTE or 3G connectivity support, 8-megapixel rear camera with powerful flash light and a 1.3-megapixel font-facing camera.

These are Water and Dust proof and is IP65/IP68 certified. It also has bar-code reader.

  • 6,200mAh hot-swappable with up to 14 hours talk time and up to 1000 hours standby

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-E1 would go on sale in Mid-June and the Toughpad FZ-X1 would go on sale in Japan by the end of August. No word on pricing yet.
