Google has introduced Google Pics, an image creation and editing tool from Google Workspace. Built on Google’s Nano Banana image generation and editing model, Pics will be available as a standalone product and integrated into Google Workspace applications.
Google Pics features
Google Pics includes image generation and editing capabilities that allow users to make precise changes to images rather than starting from scratch.
Its key features include:
- Object segmentation: Users can isolate an object and transform it without altering the rest of an image. They can also add text comments to specific areas to request targeted changes and execute multiple edits at once.
- In-image text editing and translation: Users can modify or translate text directly inside an image without disrupting its design or changing the font.
- Collaboration: Users can share Pics creations with friends and teammates and collaborate on editing the same image.
- Multiple generations: Pics can generate several options from a single prompt, allowing users to choose from different iterations.
Pics can be used to create posters, social media posts, and digital illustrations.
Google Pics integration with Workspace
Google is bringing Pics directly into Workspace applications, allowing users to create and edit images within the tools they are already using.
The integration starts today with Google Docs and Google Slides, while Google Drive integration will roll out in the coming weeks. Users can create and share visuals within Workspace without copying and pasting between applications or switching tabs.
Google said millions of users interact with billions of images across Workspace products every month.
Availability
Google Pics is rolling out over the coming weeks to all Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and most Workspace business customers. It will be available both as a standalone product and through its Workspace integrations.
