POCO has announced the launch of the POCO F9 Series, introducing two new flagship devices: the POCO F9 Ultra and the POCO F9 Pro, as it had promised.
Positioned at the top of the brand’s performance portfolio, the lineup incorporates dual-chip processing architectures, high-refresh-rate AMOLED displays, joint acoustic engineering with Bose, large silicon-carbon batteries, and high-resolution camera systems.
Performance and Gaming Architecture
Both devices utilize Qualcomm flagship mobile platforms paired with a dedicated VisionBoost D8 display co-processor. The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, achieving an AnTuTu benchmark score of 4,165,108 and offering internal storage configurations up to 1TB.
The dual-chip configuration enables native frame rates up to 185FPS across more than 20 supported gaming titles, with an additional five titles supported via frame-rate interpolation.
Software features include the WildBoost Engine, simultaneous frame generation with AI Super Resolution, and Game Color Enhancement. Input responsiveness is supported by a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, 480Hz multi-touch sampling rate, and a 200Hz gyroscope sampling rate, managed thermally by POCO’s 3D IceLoop cooling hardware.
Display and Design
The POCO F9 Series introduces 185Hz POCO HyperRGB AMOLED panels utilizing M11 luminescent materials:
- POCO F9 Ultra: Features a 6.9-inch display with up to 4,500 nits peak brightness in standard conditions and up to 10,000 nits during HDR playback. The rear panel includes a programmable dynamic notification light.
- POCO F9 Pro: Features a 6.59-inch display with identical panel technology. The Aurora Green variant incorporates a full-panel luminous rear surface responsive to ambient light and ultraviolet exposure.
Both displays utilize a full RGB subpixel layout to optimize power efficiency and visual clarity. Eye-care features include Xiaomi Vision Care integration and TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification.
Acoustics and Battery Systems
Audio across the series has been co-developed with Bose:
- F9 Ultra: Employs a 2.1-channel acoustic setup featuring dual symmetrical 1115D stereo speakers and a dedicated 1620 subwoofer.
- F9 Pro: Equipped with dual symmetrical 1115F super-linear stereo speakers in a sealed cavity layout.
The devices feature pre-tuned “Dynamic” and “Balanced” audio profiles alongside a low-latency Game Audio Mode designed to emphasize spatial cues and directional sound effects.
Power is supplied by silicon-carbon battery packs: an 8,050mAh unit in the F9 Ultra and a 6,330mAh unit in the F9 Pro. Both models support 100W wired HyperCharge, 50W wireless charging, 27W reverse wired charging, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.
Camera Specifications
The lineup debuts POCO’s first 200MP optically stabilized (OIS) primary camera system alongside a 32MP front-facing sensor. Telephoto hardware varies between the two models:
- POCO F9 Ultra: Houses a 5x periscope telephoto lens offering up to 10x lossless zoom and 20x AI-assisted digital zoom.
- POCO F9 Pro: Features a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto lens with a minimum focusing distance of 10cm for macro photography.
Video capabilities across both devices include 4K capture with automated focus transition modes under the Live Cinematography suite.
