realme 16x 5G with 6.8″ 144Hz display, 7000mAh battery launched in India

realme just launched the realme 16x 5G, the company’s latest smartphone in the number series, as it had promised.

Tagged with the tagline “Stay Smooth. Stay Unstoppable,” the smartphone targets the entry-level to mid-range 5G market with a focus on long battery longevity and general system responsiveness.

Hardware Performance and Cooling

The 16x 5G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset. Built on a 6nm fabrication process, the configuration features two performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz alongside six efficiency Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. Graphics processing is handled by a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

To maintain temperature regulation under intensive workloads, the device incorporates a large 5,300 mm² vapor chamber cooling system. The device comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM—expandable via dynamic RAM expansion technology—and up to 256GB of internal storage.

High-Capacity Battery and Charging

A central feature of the device is its massive 7,000mAh  battery. Realme claims 6-year long-battery promise alongside a 60-month fluency guarantee, aiming to ensure performance stability over long-term usage.

Despite the substantial battery capacity, the overall profile of the device remains relatively thin, measuring 8.8mm in thickness and weighing 217 grams.

Display and Camera Architecture

On the front, the phone carries a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel offering an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1570 pixels. The display features a 144Hz high refresh rate alongside a peak High Brightness Mode (HBM) value of 1,200 nits, protected by Panda glass.

The primary rear camera houses a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus capabilities. The secondary optics are complemented by a standard dual-camera array. Up front, an 8-megapixel selfie camera is housed within the punch-hole.

Software and Durability Features

The smartphone ships running Realme UI 7.0, which is built on top of Android 16. It integrates systemic AI enhancements, including native Gemini Live support, AI Assistant for Notes, and AI Eraser utilities.

In terms of build, the 16x 5G features an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. The device is engineered with Realme’s “ArmorShell” structural chassis and holds a MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification for shock and drop protection. Additional design touches include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an AI Pulse Light element for customized notifications.
