The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched a revamped version of the TRAI MyCall app for Android. The app enables telecom users to assess and report their voice call experience by submitting real-time feedback along with relevant network parameters. The feedback is shared with the respective Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) and TRAI in anonymised form, allowing operators to identify network issues and take corrective action.
TRAI notes that with more than one billion telecom subscribers in India, voice calling remains one of the country’s most widely used telecom services and is often the first indicator of network quality experienced by consumers. While operators measure network performance using technical Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, the TRAI MyCall app combines consumer feedback with network information to provide a more comprehensive assessment of telecom service quality and helps TRAI evaluate the Quality of Experience (QoE) across telecom networks based on real consumer feedback.
TRAI MyCall app features
The revamped app offers the following features:
- Instant voice call rating using a 1–5 star system.
- Report call quality issues, including:
- Call drops
- Echo during calls
- Audio delay
- Cross connection
- Voice breaking
- One party unable to hear the other
- Calls taking too long to connect
- Reported issues are shared with the respective Telecom Service Provider (TSP) for corrective action.
- Automatic post-call prompts for submitting feedback.
- Rating and feedback history displayed on an interactive map.
- Coverage Test feature to assess mobile signal strength.
Availability
The TRAI MyCall app is available for Android devices and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Commenting on the launch, TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said,
Every telecom consumer experiences network quality first-hand. The revamped TRAI MyCall app is expected to strengthen consumer participation in assessing telecom service quality by enabling subscribers to provide immediate feedback on their call experience. The feedback will help Telecom Service Providers identify network deficiencies and take corrective measures, improving customer satisfaction and the overall mobile communication experience. The initiative reinforces TRAI’s commitment to a consumer-centric, transparent and data-driven approach to improving the quality of telecom services. I encourage all mobile users to download the TRAI MyCall application and regularly share their feedback. Every feedback matters, and together we can build a better calling experience for every telecom consumer.
