DJI Mic Mini 2S with internal recording, built-in Ai noise cancellation announced

DJI has introduced the DJI Mic Mini 2S, an ultra-compact wireless microphone system designed to address multi-device and multi-person audio recording needs. Retaining the lightweight form factor of the Mini series, the new model introduces technical enhancements in data redundancy, processing power, ecosystem integration, and physical customization.

Technical Specifications and Internal Recording

The DJI Mic Mini 2S transmitter weighs approximately 12 grams and includes 14.5GB of internal storage. It supports up to 28 hours of loop recording using the default 24-bit specification, functioning independently of the receiver connection to serve as a backup against accidental signal drops or as a standalone voice recorder.

A key addition is the support for 32-bit floating-point internal recording, which expands the dynamic range to capture significant volume fluctuations without digital clipping. Users can choose between two internal recording output modes:

  • Original File: Retains maximum data for extensive post-production.
  • Processed File: Provides a pre-optimized file ready for immediate use.

Data transfer from the upgraded charging case to computers or mobile devices supports copy rates up to 34MB/s, allowing 30 minutes of 24-bit audio to transfer in approximately 8 seconds.

Multichannel Connectivity and Ecosystem Integration

The system features a quad-drive, one-receiver hybrid architecture. The DJI Mic Mini 2S receiver can connect to up to four transmitters simultaneously. It supports mono, stereo, and quad modes; the quad mode outputs four independent audio tracks for multi-talent isolation. Additionally, the DJI Mimo app offers a safety track feature that records a secondary backup track at -6 dB to prevent audio clipping.

The system offers backward compatibility, enabling cross-generational pairing between the new receiver and previous DJI Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters.

Imaging Ecosystem Integration

Through the DJI OsmoAudio ecosystem, the transmitters can connect directly via Bluetooth to compatible DJI imaging devices—including the Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo 360, Osmo Nano, and Osmo Action 6—without requiring a dedicated receiver. In this configuration, up to two transmitters can stream 48kHz 24-bit audio per camera. The transmitter’s pairing button can also trigger the camera’s record functions, aligning internal audio files with the camera’s clip management.

For traditional camera setups, the receiver can mount via a DJI hot shoe adapter to compatible Sony cameras, enabling a digital audio pipeline for four independent tracks while drawing power directly from the camera body.

Audio Processing and Customization

The Mic Mini 2S integrates a proprietary AI noise reduction model featuring two operational tiers:

  • Weak Noise Reduction: Optimized for indoor environments to suppress static background noise such as fans, HVAC systems, and mild reverberation.
  • Strong Noise Reduction: Tailored for dense outdoor environments to mitigate traffic and ambient city noise.

The system includes automatic gain adjustment with two modes: Anti-pop (which automatically attenuates sharp volume spikes) and Loudness Equalization (which stabilizes shifting vocal levels). Three preset tonal profiles can be toggled via the DJI Mimo app: Default Regular (neutral), Full (low-frequency emphasis), and Bright (high-frequency emphasis).

Physical Design, Power, and Availability

The transmitter features a detachable, rotatable magnetic back clip to adjust placement angles on clothing. The magnetic front cover is user-interchangeable; standard colors include Obsidian Black and Cloud White, with eight additional colors and five variations of windproof fur available. DJI has also partnered with illustrator Victo Ngai to release the “Time Series” artist collaboration front covers.

The updated charging case stores two transmitters, one camera-style receiver, one mobile-style receiver, and assorted core cables and clips. The case features automatic power-on and pairing upon opening.

Power Management

Wireless transmission distance reaches up to 400 meters when utilizing the camera version of the receiver.

  • Transmitter Battery Life: Up to 11 hours per charge.
  • Receiver Battery Life: Up to 10 hours per charge.
  • Total System Battery Life: Up to 40 hours when paired with the charging case.
  • Fast Charging: A 5-minute charge provides approximately 1 hour of operation.

The transmitters utilize an automatic sleep/wake protocol based on receiver signal detection to preserve power. When connected to a mobile device via USB-C, the receiver allows pass-through charging to power the smartphone during extended operations like live streaming.
