CMF Phone 3 Pro will not launch in 2026: Here’s why

CMF, the budget brand of Nothing, has officially confirmed that it will not release a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro in 2026. This comes after the rumored specifications of the CMF Phone 3 Pro that surfaced earlier this year, and the phone was even rumored to launch in Q3 2026.

The announcement was made by Nothing Co-founder Akis Evangelidis, who cited unfavorable macroeconomic conditions—specifically the rising cost of memory components—as the primary reason for halting development on the next-generation smartphone.

Prioritizing Value Over Annual Release Cycles

According to Evangelidis, the brand chose transparency over launching an incremental update that would not meet consumer expectations regarding pricing and hardware advancements.

We were working on a successor, but with memory prices where they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF. We’d rather be upfront about that than ship something we’re not proud of.

The decision marks a strategic pivot from the standard annual upgrade cycle common in the smartphone industry.

Upcoming Product Pipeline

Despite the absence of a new budget smartphone in the 2026 lineup, the company emphasized that its product roadmap for the remainder of the year remains active.

  • New Ecosystem Products: CMF plans to introduce several new products, including entries into entirely new device categories.
  • Nothing Flagship Timeline: The announcement clarified that the broader smartphone launch calendar for the parent brand, Nothing, is still ongoing, with further product announcements expected in the near future.

The company has not yet disclosed specific release windows for its upcoming ecosystem products or the rescheduled timeline for the next CMF smartphone.
