Lenovo has officially introduced the Tab Plus Gen 2, the latest iteration of its media-focused tablet designed to transition between entertainment, multitasking, and shared use. The updated device features notable upgrades to its audio system, display brightness, and structural versatility, positioning it as a multi-functional device for both indoor and outdoor environments.
Enhanced Audio and Bluetooth Speaker Functionality
At the core of the Tab Plus Gen 2 is an enhanced cinematic audio setup. The device is equipped with a JBL 9-unit Pro speaker system tuned with Dolby Atmos®, engineered to provide clearer dialogue and deeper bass.
Beyond standard media playback, the tablet includes a built-in Bluetooth® speaker mode, allowing it to function as a standalone external speaker for smartphones or other devices. For individualized audio preferences, the system utilizes Dolby Audio® processing, featuring dedicated presets for Dynamic, Movie, and Music modes.
Upgraded 12.1-Inch Display
To complement its audio capabilities, Lenovo has increased the screen size and brightness on the new model. The Tab Plus Gen 2 features a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD display that supports both Dolby Vision® and HDR10. To ensure visibility in high-glare environments or direct sunlight, the screen can reach up to 800 nits when operating in High Brightness Mode.
Redesigned 360-Degree Rotating Kickstand
A key design update for the second-generation model is the integration of a 360-degree rotating kickstand. This hardware addition allows the tablet to support multiple viewing angles in both portrait and landscape orientations.
The device can be configured into several distinct setups:
- Lean & Theater modes: Optimized for hands-free media consumption.
- Stand & Hanging modes: Designed for practical utility, such as displaying recipes in the kitchen or hanging the device in outdoor environments.
Additionally, the tablet includes a built-in standby mode that converts the inactive device into a digital picture frame for communal spaces. For portability, Lenovo is also introducing a tailored carrying sleeve equipped with a shoulder strap.
Performance, Intelligence, and Battery Life
The Tab Plus Gen 2 integrates several proprietary software tools focused on productivity and accessibility:
- Lenovo AI Live Transcript: Provides real-time translation and transcription for multimedia content.
- Lenovo Smarter Reader: Aids in digital reading and document navigation.
- AI Notes with Lenovo Notepad: Features streamlined organization and note-taking utilities.
The tablet is powered by a 10,200mAh battery, which Lenovo rates for up to 15 hours of continuous YouTube video streaming. The device supports 45W fast charging and is compatible with optional accessories, including the Lenovo Tab Pen Plus, Lenovo Wireless Keyboard, and a 68W USB-C® Wall Charger (each sold separately).
