Vodafone Idea (Vi) has officially restored its mobile network services across a major portion of Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line 3, spanning 16 stations from Aarey JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk.
The restoration comes after a temporary disruption in services, which resulted from unresolved matters between the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) and ACES Infrastructure. With those issues now addressed, Vi connectivity is fully operational across key transit points, including platforms, metro stations, and underground transit areas.
Coverage Area and Commuter Impact
The active 16-station stretch now includes several high-traffic commercial and transit hubs:
-
Key Stations Covered: SEEPZ, MIDC Andheri, Marol Naka, CSMI Airport T2, Sahar Road, CSMI Airport T1, Santacruz, Bandra Colony, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Dharavi, Shitla Devi Mandir, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, and Worli.
The Aqua Line 3 serves as a critical transit artery for the city, accommodating over 1.5 lakh daily commuters and operating more than 290 trips per day. The restoration of network services ensures that passengers can maintain voice connectivity, access high-speed mobile internet, utilize digital payment applications, and stream content seamlessly during their commutes.
Phase 2 Expansion Underway
Looking ahead, Vodafone Idea is currently working on extending its network infrastructure across Phase 2 of the metro line. This upcoming phase covers 11 additional stations, stretching from the Science Centre Metro Station to Cuffe Parade.
The telecom operator expects to roll out services across the remaining network over the coming weeks, aiming for comprehensive coverage as Mumbai’s underground metro ecosystem continues to expand.
Speaking on the development, Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer, Vodafone Idea, commented:
