OPPO has introduced its latest generation of smartphones, the OPPO Reno16 series, at an event in China, as it had promised. The lineup introduces significant hardware upgrades, a renewed focus on portrait photography, and integrated AI capabilities.
Design and Display
The Reno16 series maintains a premium build, utilizing a glass back cover paired with a metal frame across the lineup.
- OPPO Reno16: Features a compact 6.32-inch OLED flat screen with a resolution of 2640×1216. Depending on the specific configuration, the device measures between 8.2mm and 8.36mm in thickness and weighs between 188g and 191g. It is available in three colorways: Starry Night, Galaxy Purple, and Midnight Black.
- OPPO Reno16 Pro: Stepping up in size, the Pro model sports a 6.78-inch OLED flat screen with a 2772×1272 resolution. It features a slimmer profile ranging from 7.7mm to 7.86mm, though it is heavier at 205g to 208g. Color options include Starry Night, Dream Blue, and Midnight Black.
Notably, the “Starry Night” version for both models debuts a 3D ice-clear floating process, which engineered a naked-eye 3D optical effect on the phone’s back cover.
Performance and Battery Technology
OPPO has equipped both models with distinct MediaTek chipsets alongside proprietary connectivity and cooling solutions. Both devices incorporate OPPO’s ShanHai (Mountain & Sea) communication enhancement chip, an independent Wi-Fi acceleration chip, and a nano-ice crystal heat dissipation system.
The Reno16 has a 6700mAh Glacier Battery with 80W Fast Charging and the Reno16 Pro has a 7000mAh Battery with 80W Fast Charging and 50W Wireless Charging.
Advanced Camera Capabilities
The Reno16 series focuses heavily on imaging, featuring a versatile triple-rear camera matrix alongside a high-resolution front sensor.

- Main Camera: 200MP sensor. The Pro version distinguishes itself by including a micro-gimbal structure that supports up to 5° of intelligent focal plane rotation angle correction.
- Telephoto: 50MP periscope telephoto camera.
- Ultra-Wide: 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
- Flash: Strobe intelligent flash.
- Front: 50MP selfie camera.
Software and Live Photos
The series introduces the Natural Tone engine, designed to enhance clarity and color vibrancy in portrait photography. Live Photo functionality is supported across all lenses; the main and telephoto cameras output 25MP Live Photos, while the ultra-wide and front cameras output 12MP Live Photos.
During the launch event, brand ambassador Song Yuqi demonstrated a new “Live Photo Sticker” feature. This software addition allows users to combine up to 10 live or still photos into a single composite image.
AI Integration
To streamline daily productivity, the Reno16 series includes a dedicated physical AI button. This button activates OPPO AI One-Click Notes, a feature capable of extracting on-screen content, generating travel itineraries, and organizing study notes seamlessly across various applications.
