Google rolls out Gemini 3.1 Pro with upgraded core reasoning

Google has announced the release of Gemini 3.1 Pro, an updated core intelligence model built to support advanced reasoning across science, research and engineering use cases. The model builds on the Gemini 3 series and is rolling out in preview across developer, enterprise and consumer platforms.

Core reasoning improvements

Gemini 3.1 Pro introduces upgrades focused on logical reasoning and complex problem-solving.

On the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, which measures a model’s ability to solve entirely new logic patterns, Gemini 3.1 Pro achieved a verified score of 77.1%. Google states this is more than double the reasoning performance of Gemini 3 Pro.

The model serves as an updated baseline system for handling multi-step and unfamiliar tasks.

Practical applications

Gemini 3.1 Pro is designed for use cases that require structured reasoning rather than simple responses. According to Google, the model can support:

  • Visual and structured explanations of complex subjects
  • Combining and synthesizing information into a unified view
  • Assisting with research-driven and technical workflows
  • Supporting creative development tasks
