Government statements

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, said the programme has strengthened India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and enabled a larger share of domestic demand to be met through indigenous production. He noted that building strong foundational capabilities is important as India is expected to remain a growth economy in the coming decades.

Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, said India is increasingly being viewed as an electronics manufacturing destination amid global geopolitical uncertainty.

S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, said the proposals approved in the current tranche are significant for the electronics manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to achieving the objectives of ECMS.

Outlook

The latest approvals under ECMS are expected to support component-level manufacturing, supply chain localisation, and capacity expansion across multiple electronics segments. As further tranches are implemented, the scheme is expected to continue focusing on reducing import dependence and expanding electronics manufacturing across a wider geographic base in India.
