India’s PC market (excluding tablets) posted its strongest quarterly performance on record in Q3 2025, with shipments reaching 4.9 million units, up 13% year-on-year (YoY), according to Omdia.
Growth was driven by festive season inventory builds, early online sales events that generated strong traction across major e-commerce platforms, and steady enterprise demand.
Notebook and Desktop Performance
- Notebooks: 4.0 million units shipped (up 12% YoY), supported by early shipments and consistent commercial fulfilment.
- Desktops: Shipments rose 18% to 920,000 units, reflecting ongoing enterprise refresh programs and SMB activity.
Consumer PC Segment
The consumer PC market grew 20% YoY, led by early online sales events and aligned vendor discount and cashback offers. Premium notebooks recorded a 27% increase, supported by wider availability of higher-specification models and compelling cashback schemes.
Commercial PC Segment
The commercial PC market increased 7% YoY, supported by large enterprise replacement cycles. SMBs remained cautious amid expectations of rising component costs, particularly for memory and display components, but are projected to allocate stronger IT budgets for future refresh cycles.
Tablet Market Trends
- Overall tablet shipments fell 19% YoY to 1.6 million units, primarily due to deferred government-led education deployments.
- Consumer tablet demand grew 14% YoY, driven by affordable LTE devices and steady adoption for entertainment and learning use cases.
Outlook for 2025–2026
India’s PC market is expected to maintain steady momentum in 2026, growing around 2% as refresh cycles continue and AI-enabled devices gain wider mainstream adoption.
AI-capable notebooks are likely to be the fastest-growing segment, supported by broader portfolios, clearer on-device AI features, rollout of new silicon architectures, and expanding adoption into smaller cities.
Tablet market outlook:
- Remains soft in late 2025 due to delayed education tenders.
- Expected to recover in early 2026 as state-backed initiatives and postponed education deployments are executed.
- Momentum will depend on the pace at which these deployments scale and how effectively vendors expand tablet use beyond secondary-use scenarios.
