Telegram adds Live Stories streaming, repeated messages, and gift auctions

Telegram has released a new update that brings live-streaming to Stories, adds automated scheduling options for messages, and introduces an auction-based system for distributing limited-edition gifts. The update also includes refreshed interface elements on Android and iOS, along with new tools for creators who use external streaming software.

Live Stories

Users can now start live streams directly inside a Telegram Story, enabling real-time broadcasts without switching to a separate video chat or group call. Viewers can post comments during the stream, and messages can be highlighted or pinned using Telegram Stars. A visible Star counter in the corner of the stream shows the total Stars earned, and viewers can tap it to contribute more.

Live Stories work for personal accounts, as well as groups and channels that have unlocked Story posting through boosts. The feature supports the same privacy options available for ordinary Stories: Everyone, My Contacts, Close Friends, or Selected Users.

Key Highlights

  • Real-time comments during live Story streams
  • Option to highlight or pin comments using Stars
  • Star earnings displayed on the stream
  • Supported on accounts, groups, and boosted channels
  • Standard Story privacy controls
Hosting and Creator Tools

Creators can stream using RTMP keys, allowing integration with tools such as OBS and XSplit. Hosts can manage comment visibility or set a price for comments through the Live Settings panel. To assign a moderator, groups or channels can provide the “Manage Video Chats / Live Streams” permission to selected members.

Repeated Scheduled Messages

Telegram now supports repeat intervals for scheduled messages and reminders. Users can configure messages to repeat daily, weekly, or at other customized intervals, useful for routine updates, work tasks, or habit tracking.

How to Enable

  • Press and hold the Send arrow
  • Select Schedule Message
  • Tap Repeat and choose an interval
Auctions for New Gifts

Telegram is moving limited-edition gift releases to an auction format to ensure fair distribution. Users can bid with Stars across multiple rounds, and the highest bids in each round receive gifts. Gift numbers correspond to bidding rank: the top bidder receives #1, the second receives #2, and so on.

Auction Process

  • Highest bids per round receive gifts
  • Gift numbers assigned based on rank
  • Lower bids automatically move to the next round
  • Refund issued for unused bids after all gifts are distributed
  • Users can rebid or raise bids at any time
  • Gift pages include an Auction banner and t.me/auction link

Collectible gifts can still be worn as profile status items, stored in collections, moved to blockchain wallets, or traded on the Marketplace.

Interface Updates

The update brings refreshed visuals to both mobile platforms.

iOS

  • Additional Liquid Glass design elements
  • Updated profile layouts
  • Redesigned Settings interface
  • New attachment menu with efficient animations

Android

  • New minimalist input field
  • Blur effects applied while scrolling

All features are available in Telegram version 12.2.1 and above.
