Emirates has announced plans to implement Starlink Wi-Fi across its entire operational fleet, commencing with the Boeing 777 aircraft in November 23, 2025 and aiming for full completion by mid-2027. Qatar Airways was the first to launch Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 aircraft last year.
The airline will offer this ultra-fast service complimentary to all passengers, positioning it as a move to reinforce its commitment to inflight connectivity by providing what it describes as “ground-quality internet” at cruising altitude.
The integration of Starlink is intended to enable Emirates customers to perform a range of online activities simultaneously on both seatback screens and personal devices throughout their journey. These activities include streaming content, gaming, making calls, working, and browsing social media. The service aims to deliver connected experiences across all cabin classes.
Fleet Rollout Details
Emirates plans to equip its entire in-service fleet, comprising 232 aircraft, with the Starlink system over the next two years. The initial installation has been completed on a Boeing 777-300ER, aircraft A6-EPF, which is currently on display at the Dubai Airshow. Visitors at the event are able to experience the high-speed connectivity while the aircraft is on the ground.
Following the Airshow, A6-EPF will re-enter commercial service, marking the start of the accelerated fleet-wide rollout. The airline has scheduled the installation process at a rate of approximately 14 aircraft per month. Installation on the Airbus A380 fleet is set to begin in February 2026.
Technical Implementation and Features
Emirates will fit two antennae on each Boeing 777 aircraft. For the Airbus A380, the airline plans an installation of three antennae per aircraft, which is noted as an industry first. This configuration is intended to ensure high levels of connectivity, capacity, and coverage across all cabin classes.
The service will also extend to entertainment options, with Live TV over Starlink planned. This feature will initially be available on personal devices, with deployment on seatback screens anticipated from late December 2025.
Complimentary Access
The Starlink Wi-Fi service will be provided free of charge to all customers, regardless of cabin class, on aircraft equipped with the technology. Access is designed to be simple and require a single click, with no necessity for payment or a special Skywards membership.
