Acer India has partnered with Plumage Solutions to inaugurate a new laptop manufacturing facility in Puducherry, developed under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT Hardware. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in Acer’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ mission and strengthens domestic IT hardware production.
Annual Production Capacity of 300,000 Laptops
The Puducherry plant, built on a large campus, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 laptop units. It is expected to generate high-skill employment, boost the local economy, and contribute to India’s goal of becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing.
Acer’s collaboration with Plumage already includes producing computer monitors, All-in-One desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters.
Rs. 50 Crore Investment Over 3–4 Years
The Plumage Group will invest Rs. 50 crore over the next 3–4 years to enhance Acer’s manufacturing capacity and capability. The facility’s output will cater to both domestic and, over time, global demand, contributing to India’s growing electronics exports.

Supporting India’s Localization Roadmap and Institutional Engagement
The facility is part of Acer India’s broader localization roadmap to increase domestic production, reduce import dependence, and meet rising demand from both urban and emerging markets.
The facility will also serve as a platform to deepen engagement with educational institutions, government programs, and enterprise customers through locally designed and manufactured products.
Long-Term Strategic Vision
The new facility reflects Acer’s long-term plan for India, aiming to establish the nation as a center for innovation, operations, and product creation, while helping move India’s IT hardware sector from reliance on imports to a self-sufficient, globally competitive manufacturing hub.
