Last month, Amazfit launched the Amazfit Active under 15K segment with an AI-driven Zepp Coach that caters to users of all training backgrounds, providing more efficient, personalized, and safe workouts. We had it for a couple of weeks and here’s what we think about it.

Design and Display
The Amazfit Active is a compact square smartwatch that weighs between 24 grams, making it lightweight and comfortable to wear. The 1.75-inch AMOLED screen boasts a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels, delivering vibrant colors and responsive touch controls.
The smartwatch has a button on its right side that allows you to access the menu and perform various actions. Additionally, there is a microphone located next to the button, while on the left side of the watch, you’ll find the speaker. At the back of the watch, you’ll notice a plastic case that contains all the sensors, as well as magnetic pins for charging purposes.
From heart rate and stress monitoring to tracking blood oxygen levels, it covers a wide range of health metrics. Plus, its waterproof design allows users to swim with it up to 50 meters deep, thanks to its 5ATM rating.
Software and Smartwatch Features
Powered by Zepp OS, the Amazfit Active integrates seamlessly with Android smartphones and iPhones. Setting it up requires the Zepp companion app, available on both platforms.
The smartwatch experience remains consistent across devices, offering features like notifications, music controls, weather updates, and various watch faces. Notably, Amazon Alexa support, Bluetooth calls, and the ability to store music enhance its functionality. However, it lacks contactless payment support.
While navigating the watch interface is straightforward, the companion app may feel cluttered. Nevertheless, the inclusion of numerous features at an affordable price demonstrates Amazfit’s commitment to improving its ecosystem.
Fitness Tracking
The Amazfit Active excels in health and fitness tracking, boasting AI-powered features like Zepp Coach and Zepp Aura. Compatible with popular fitness apps like Strava, Komoot, Apple Health, and Google Fit, it offers extensive tracking capabilities.
From step counts to heart rate variability, the Active provides comprehensive insights into users’ health metrics. However, differences in step counts and heart rate accuracy compared to other devices may be observed. Despite this, core statistics such as sleep duration and sleep stages remain consistent.
The Active introduces a unique Readiness feature, analyzing sleep data to assess users’ readiness for the day ahead. While similar to competitors’ metrics, it offers valuable insights into overall well-being.
Additionally, the inclusion of Zepp Aura enhances sleep tracking with AI-powered sleep stories and detailed reports. However, access to this feature comes at an extra cost.
Bluetooth Calling
The Active also features Bluetooth calling, meaning you can answer and make calls directly the watch directly without having to take the phone. During our usage, the call quality was decent, its neither so good nor bad.
Battery Life
The battery life of the Amazfit Active is really impressive. According the company’s claims it can last up to 14 days on one charge. When we used it, tracking our activities regularly and keeping the display on all day, it lasted about 12 to 13 days, which is pretty good
Performance and Verdict
In terms of sports tracking, the Active offers built-in GPS and heart rate monitoring for various activities. While generally reliable, some users may notice inaccuracies in distance tracking and heart rate monitoring, particularly during intense workouts.
Despite minor drawbacks, the Active impresses with its extensive features and affordability. With improvements in accuracy and focus on core functionalities, it has the potential to compete with higher-end smartwatches.
