Google Earth updated after two years, brings Voyager interactive guided tours, 3D View and more

Google has updated Google Earth web and Android after working on it for two years. The version 9.0 update brings  Voyager, interactive guided tours, 3D View to to see any place from any angle and more new features.

For the Voyager, interactive guided tours, Google has partnered with world’s leading storytellers, scientists and nonprofits. Some of the Voyager tours include Natural Treasures from BBC Earth, Lola, one of 12 little monsters featured in Sesame Street’s Girl Muppets Around the World, Mayan cultures and lots more. There are 50 immersive stories in Voyager, with more added weekly.

It also brings 3D View at the press of a 3D button to see any place from any angle. There is also ‘I’m feeling lucky,’ feature that takes you somewhere unexpected with the click of a button. Google has curated 20,000 different places for this. Once you’ve landed on a point of interest, you can open a Knowledge Card to learn history and facts about that place and see more pictures of it.

Highlights of Google Earth 9.0

  • Choose your own adventure with Voyager – Experience interactive stories from around the world.
  • Discover new places with Knowledge Cards – Flip through cards and learn about local landmarks.
