Google introduces My Ramadan Companion to assist observers of the holy month

With the start of the holy month of Ramadan, Google has introduced a new tool to help members of the Muslim community all around the world. Called ‘My Ramadan Companion’, the tool is meant to assist everyone observing the month of fasting by providing hyperlocal and time relevant information.

The service will be available as a stand alone webpage and will also tie in to the Google Now cards on your phone. The service shows the sunrise and sunset times in an easy to glance format while also bringing together relevant information like navigation directions to the closest Iftar. You’ll also be able to find and share recipes and view Ramadan content on YouTube. To make that the month of fasting doesn’t adversely affect your health, My Ramadan Companion will also show regular fitness tips.

On your phone, the service ties in with Google Now and will show cards with sunrise, sunset times. You’ll also be able to view the latest Ramdan information, nearby Halal restaurants and a countdown to Iftar time. If you’re looking for Ramadan specific applications to help plan out your day, then Google has got you covered and will be offering a curated list of recommended applications.
