Google Photos has announced five updates covering photo selection, digital wardrobe organization, photo styles, Remix templates, and the Markup tool. Simon Li, Product Manager at Google Photos, detailed the updates.
Photos in Gemini Spark, Wardrobe and Moods
Photos in Gemini Spark lets eligible users select, brighten, and share family portraits from a weekend getaway using a single prompt.
Wardrobe automatically catalogs clothing in photos and lets users create a digital closet, virtually style outfits, and try on new looks. Meanwhile, Moods adds photo styles that adapt to individual images, including 35mm film and 2000s digicam styles.
15 new Remix templates
Google Photos is adding 15 new Remix templates for creating different formats from everyday photos. These include:
- Red carpet moments
- Whimsical birthday cards
- Photo booth shots
Upgraded Markup tool
Google Photos has also upgraded the Markup tool with a redact pen to blur sensitive information, precise thickness sliders for custom sketches, and new fonts for adding text to photos.
Availability
Google has specified availability for each of the five updates across subscriptions, platforms, countries, and age requirements, as follows:
- Photos in Gemini Spark: Available to eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S.
- Wardrobe: Now available to all eligible Android and iOS users in the U.S., India, and Brazil.
- Moods: Available in Google Photos on Android globally.
- Remix templates: Available in Google Photos on Android and iOS in select countries for users over 18.
- Upgraded Markup tool: Rolling out in Google Photos on Android globally.
