Bose has unveiled the Bose Sport Open Earbuds and Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen), expanding its open-ear earbuds lineup with two new models. The Sport Open Earbuds target running, workouts, and outdoor activities, while the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) build on the first-generation model.
Bose OpenAudio technology
Both earbuds use Bose OpenAudio technology, which combines a transducer with a controlled acoustic structure to direct sound toward the ear while minimizing sound leakage. Bose SoundDesign digital signal processing balances clarity and bass.
Unlike bone conduction designs, the earbuds deliver sound through the air near the ear rather than through bone vibrations and do not require a tight contact point against the head. Since both models use an open-ear design, they do not support active noise cancellation, allowing users to remain aware of surrounding sounds.
Shared features include:
- Bose SpeechClarity: AI-enhanced voice isolation using one dedicated microphone and one voice pickup unit in each earbud to separate the user’s voice from background noise while preserving its tone, warmth, and natural expression.
- Auto Volume: Adjusts playback loudness as ambient noise changes.
- Open-ear audio: Delivers sound through the air near the ear rather than through bone vibrations.
Bose Sport Open Earbuds
The Bose Sport Open Earbuds use custom-designed dynamic drivers and a C-arm cuff with a soft silicone matte finish that anchors around the ear. Their slim and lightweight construction targets running, fitness, and outdoor activities.
The earbuds have textured physical buttons for controlling music, calls, and volume. They also carry an IP54 rating for sweat, splash, and dust resistance, while the silicone construction can be wiped clean.
The charging case features:
- Pocket-ready upright design
- Wireless charging support
- Translucent textured lid

The design updates include a refined metallic cap with a beveled finish. Its redesigned charging case has a pocket-ready, upright design and supports wireless charging.
The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) also support Snapdragon Sound with aptX Adaptive on compatible Android devices, with support for high-quality audio and lower latency.

Speaking on the launch, Raza Haider, president of Bose Premium Consumer Audio, said:
With the original Ultra Open Earbuds, Bose introduced a new way to experience your music without tuning out the world. That meant creating something people could comfortably wear all day, so music could simply be part of life as it happens. Now, we’re building on that foundation, bringing the same focus on comfort and design into sport while making our flagship offering even better. Whether training, working or moving through the day, these earbuds are designed to feel as good as they sound.
