WhatsApp rolls out iPad sign-up, CarPlay updates, PDF editing tools and music sharing features

WhatsApp has announced new features across its platforms, including direct account registration on iPad, updated CarPlay and Android Auto integration, PDF editing tools on web and desktop, and music sharing through WhatsApp Status.

The updates expand support across devices and integrations with other apps, allowing users to access conversations and features across different platforms.

Sign up for WhatsApp on iPad

WhatsApp users can now create an account directly from the WhatsApp app on iPad. Since the launch of WhatsApp for iPad, users have requested the ability to create an account on the tablet without needing to link it to their phone. With the update, users can register directly through the iPad app, complete the account setup, and start using WhatsApp on their iPad.

CarPlay and Android Auto updates

WhatsApp has refreshed its experience on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The updated integration allows users to hear and respond to messages, make calls, view call history, and access favourite contacts hands-free directly from their car’s display.

PDF viewing and editing

WhatsApp now allows users to open PDF files directly within chats without downloading them separately. Users can also make lightweight edits to PDFs, including highlighting and adding annotations directly in the chat. The feature is available on WhatsApp Web and desktop apps and is powered by Adobe Acrobat.

Music sharing on Status

WhatsApp users can now share songs directly from Apple Music and Spotify to their WhatsApp Status. After sharing a song, friends can see the music users are listening to through the Status update.

Availability

These features are rolling out now across supported devices and platforms.
