Google has expanded the Gemini-powered “Take notes for me” feature in Google Meet, bringing AI-based meeting transcription and summaries to select users. The feature runs during calls with user permission and generates structured meeting outputs automatically.
When enabled, Gemini operates in the background during calls and provides automated meeting outputs, including:
- Real-time transcription of the conversation
- A structured summary with key points and action items
- Automatic generation of meeting notes
After the meeting ends, the notes are saved as a Google Docs file in the host’s Google Drive. Participants also receive an email recap containing the summary and action items.
How to use
The feature can be activated in two ways:
- During a meeting: Select the pencil icon at the top of the Google Meet window
- For all meetings: Enable it through the “Meeting records” section in Google Meet settings
All participants are notified when the feature is enabled in a call.
Availability
The feature is available on Google Meet for web and mobile devices in select languages. It is rolling out to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers, as well as eligible Google Workspace business customers. Usage is limited to meetings hosted by eligible users.
