Google Wear OS 7 rolls out with Live Updates and Gemini Intelligence for Pixel Watch

Google has started rolling out Wear OS 7 to eligible Pixel Watch devices. The latest update brings new glanceable features and a more efficient smartwatch experience designed for all-day use.

Google states that data for Wear OS 6 devices (Aug 2025–April 2026) shows strong engagement, with more than half of users wearing their smartwatch seven days a week and the top 10% of users wearing it over 23 hours a day.

Here are the key highlights of the update.

1. Live Updates for Real-Time Glanceable Information

Wear OS 7 introduces Android Live Updates directly on the wrist, allowing users to track ongoing events in real time without opening apps.

You can monitor:

  • Live sports scores
  • Food order delivery status
  • Workout progress updates

Live Updates are designed to deliver information exactly when needed. For example, Live Updates from the Just Eat app can appear directly on your watch for real-time tracking.

2. Smarter Control Across Connected Devices

Wear OS 7 is designed to work more seamlessly with connected devices, including earbuds and intelligent eyewear, which launches this fall.

Key improvements include:

  • Control media playback across headphones, speakers, and other devices directly from the watch
  • Switch audio between connected devices using the media output switcher
  • Manage content across multiple devices from the wrist

If you take a photo using audio glasses, you can instantly review it on your smartwatch with a quick glance.

3. Gemini Intelligence Brings Personalized AI Features

Later this year, select Wear OS 7 devices will receive Gemini Intelligence features, enabling a more personalized and context-aware experience.

Key capabilities include:

  • Create My Widget to build custom dashboards using natural language

  • Multi-step app automation, such as booking a front-row bike at a spin class or ordering a usual meal
  • Suggestions powered by Google apps including Gmail, Search, and chat history

  • Neural Expressive design language for a more adaptive interface on the wrist
  • Personal Intelligence that connects data across Google services for more relevant suggestions

These features are designed to support more task-based and context-driven usage on the smartwatch.

4. Improved Battery Life and System Efficiency

Wear OS 7 includes system-level optimizations focused on efficiency while supporting new features.

  • Up to 10% improvement in battery life compared to Wear OS 6
  • Better overall power management for all-day usage
  • Improved system efficiency for smoother performance
