Acer has announced the Predator Atlas 8 (PA08-I51) gaming handheld, expanding its Predator portfolio of high-performance gaming devices.
The handheld is powered by up to the Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor with Intel Arc G-Series graphics architecture. It supports up to Intel Arc B390 graphics with ray tracing for improved lighting and visual detail, while Intel XeSS 3 AI upscaling maintains higher frame rates and reduces stutter and input lag during heavy GPU workloads.
For sustained performance, the device includes up to an 80Wh battery with Intel Endurance Gaming technology, which dynamically balances power and performance to extend gaming sessions.
Thermal management is handled by a dual-fan cooling system inspired by Predator laptops. It introduces the first metal fan in a handheld, the Predator AeroBlade fan, featuring 89 blades at 0.1 mm thickness and delivering up to 10 percent improved airflow. A secondary plastic fan and Vortex Flow channel system improve airflow efficiency and heat dissipation during high workloads.
The display includes:
- 8-inch WUXGA touchscreen
- 120Hz refresh rate
- 500 nits brightness
- 16:10 aspect ratio with wider vertical field of view
- VRR support
- Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™ with DXC coating
- 10-point multi-touch support
Audio and communication features include DTS:X® Ultra dual 2W speakers along with dual microphones powered by Acer PurifiedVoice AI noise reduction for clearer voice chat. Connectivity options include dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, UHS-II microSD support, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth® 5.4 for high-speed wireless and expansion support.
Control features include full-size analog sticks and a dual-mode trigger system that switches between micro-switch mode for FPS games and Hall-effect analog mode for racing and simulation titles. It also integrates PredatorSense, providing real-time system monitoring, performance controls, RGB lighting adjustment, and quick in-game access through a dedicated button.
The device runs on Windows 11 with Xbox Mode optimizations for smoother navigation and faster system access, and includes XBOX Game Pass for immediate access to a large game library.
