Google has introduced Gemini 3.5, its latest family of models that combines frontier intelligence with action. The company is kicking off the series with Gemini 3.5 Flash, which it says delivers strong performance for agents and coding while handling complex long-horizon tasks faster and more efficiently.
Gemini 3.5 Flash: Built for Speed and Agentic Tasks
Google says Gemini 3.5 Flash is its strongest agentic and coding model yet. It outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro on challenging benchmarks, including Terminal-Bench 2.1, GDPval-AA, MCP Atlas and CharXiv Reasoning. The company also says the model is 4 times faster than other frontier models when it comes to output tokens per second.
The model is designed to sit in the top-right quadrant of the Artificial Analysis index, combining high intelligence with exceptional speed. Google says this means developers no longer have to choose between quality and latency.
Better for Long-Horizon Work
This model is tailor-made for long-horizon agentic tasks, where it can help developers and enterprises plan, build, and iterate more quickly. It can be used to develop new applications, maintain codebases, and even help prepare financial documents.
When paired with the updated Antigravity harness, Gemini 3.5 Flash can also deploy collaborative subagents to handle complex workflows at scale. Google says it can reliably execute multi-step tasks under supervision while maintaining frontier-level performance.
The model also builds on Gemini 3’s multimodal foundation to generate richer web UIs, interactive graphics and dynamic visual experiences. Google showed examples such as automated asset categorisation and interactive animations for research content.
Powering Gemini Spark and Search
Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default model for the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search globally. Google says it is also powering new experiences across Search, including information agents and more dynamic generative UI features.
The newly announced Gemini Spark personal AI agent also uses Gemini 3.5 Flash. Spark runs 24/7 and can take action on the user’s behalf under supervision. Gemini Spark is rolling out to trusted testers today, with beta access for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US next week.
Availability
Gemini 3.5 Flash is available today across the Gemini app, AI Mode in Search, Google Antigravity, Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Android Studio, as well as Gemini Enterprise and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
Gemini 3.5 Pro is already being used internally and will roll out next month.
Commenting on the announcement of the Gemini 3.5 family, executives at Google DeepMind said,
Today, we’re introducing Gemini 3.5, our latest family of models combining frontier intelligence with action. This represents a major leap forward in building more capable, intelligent agents. We’re kicking off the series by releasing 3.5 Flash. It delivers frontier performance for agents and coding, excelling at complex long-horizon tasks that deliver real-world utility.
