Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 Review: 1440p 240Hz gaming for under Rs. 20000!

Displays and monitors are one of the few consumer electronics that have become more affordable over the years. Advances in manufacturing have made larger and faster screens cheaper, allowing content creators to do more while giving gamers a noticeably better experience. Gaming monitors in particular have dropped in price significantly over the last few years, offering faster displays at higher resolutions. The Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 monitor is one such device, offering a 1440p 240Hz panel for Rs. 20000. To achieve this price, what compromises (if any) did Lenovo make? Read on in our review to find out.

Design and Build Quality

The Legion 27Q-10 has a modern, understated design with thin bezels on the top, left and right side, and a thicker bezel on the bottom edge. Lenovo has opted for a matte finish instead of a glossy finish for this monitor, which does a pretty good job at reducing reflections and glares from external light sources. There is a singular “Legion” logo in the bottom bezel along with another Legion logo on the back side of the monitor.

On the right side of the bottom bezel, there are certain graphics that indicate the various functions of the controls that are accessible to the user. Typically, I prefer a 5-access navigation joystick to access the OSD; however, this monitor uses a set of 5 buttons to navigate the OSD. Due to this, the OSD menu is a bit confusing to navigate at first, but it gets easier over time.

The monitor is reasonably thick, with a rectangular component in the center where the display control circuit and internal power supply are present. The monitor conveniently connects via a standard C13 connector.

Build quality overall feels alright. It features a fully plastic construction, which doesn’t feel too cheap. As long as you don’t move around the monitor much and keep it stationary, it should be fine.

The monitor does come with a stand included in the box. It attaches via 4 (included) screws to the center of the monitor and allows for a range of motion. It can lift by up to 135mm, tilt between -5° and 22°, pivot between -90° and 90°, and swivel between -30° to 30°.

The stand has a wide base that is a bit thicker than I would like, but it feels sturdy and secure and the quality is solid.

Ports

The monitor comes with a basic but practical selection of ports. It features two HDMI 2.1 ports along with a single DisplayPort 1.4 port. There is also a 3.5mm audio-out jack, but the monitor does not include any USB ports, meaning you can’t connect peripherals directly to it.

The power supply is built into the monitor, so all you need to do is connect the included C13 power cable to get it up and running. Lenovo also bundles a DisplayPort cable in the box, which is a nice addition.

Display

The Legion 27Q-10 features a 27-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2560×1440 and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz. It claims an MPRT of 0.5ms and offers a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Regarding colour gamut, the panel boasts 99% coverage of the sRGB colour space, 90% DCI-P3 colour space, and they claim a Delta E < 2. This makes the display well suited for light photo editing and video editing workloads. In fact, the monitor is factory calibrated and Lenovo includes the Factory Calibration Report in the box.

In terms of brightness, the monitor can reach up to 300 nits, which is perfectly adequate for indoor use and gaming. There is no HDR support, but this is understandable given the monitor’s price point.

If your system isn’t powerful enough to run games at 1440p and 240Hz consistently, Lenovo has you covered. The monitor supports NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium, and VESA Adaptive Sync, which help reduce screen tearing and stuttering at lower frame rates. This results in a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience overall.

The gaming experience, simply put, is excellent. A 1440p resolution is ideal for a 27-inch monitor, offering sharp visuals and plenty of detail for single-player games that focus on graphics and immersion. For those who play competitive e-sports titles, the 240Hz refresh rate makes gameplay feel fast and responsive.

The 0.5ms MPRT delivers good motion clarity for an LCD panel, further enhancing the overall gaming experience. Colours look vibrant and pleasing, and thanks to the IPS panel, viewing angles are excellent as well.

Just a few years ago, a 1440p 240Hz monitor would have cost close to Rs. 30,000. At around Rs. 20,000, this monitor offers excellent value for money.

Conclusion

Monitors and TVs are among the few consumer electronics categories that have consistently become more affordable with each generation, and the Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 is a clear example of that trend. For under Rs. 20,000, you get a 27-inch 1440p display with a fast 240Hz refresh rate, which was unthinkable at this price just a few years ago.

The monitor isn’t loaded with extra features like USB ports or a built-in KVM, and the lack of proper HDR support may be a drawback for some users. That said, it focuses on getting the fundamentals right, with excellent gaming performance and support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium.

Considering its pricing and overall performance, it’s hard to find major faults with the Legion 27Q-10. For these reasons, it is an easy recommendation, especially for users upgrading from an older 24-inch 1080p gaming monitor, where the jump in resolution and refresh rate feels immediately noticeable.

The Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 is available for purchase on Amazon, Lenovo’s official online store and in various offline stores across India.
