Apple Creator Studio Subscription Suite launched

Apple today introduced Apple Creator Studio, a new subscription bundle that consolidates the company’s professional creative software for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. The suite, which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro, also introduces new artificial intelligence features and premium content for Apple’s productivity apps.

Set to launch on Wednesday, January 28, Apple Creator Studio aggregates video, audio, and imaging tools into a single subscription service. The bundle includes access to:

  • Video: Final Cut Pro (Mac and iPad), Motion, and Compressor.
  • Audio: Logic Pro (Mac and iPad) and MainStage.
  • Imaging: Pixelmator Pro (Mac and iPad).
  • Productivity: Premium features for Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform.
Video Editing Updates

Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad has been updated with several new features focused on workflow efficiency and automation:

  • Transcript Search: Users can locate specific segments within footage by typing phrases into a search bar.
  • Visual Search: This feature allows editors to search for specific objects or actions within clips to locate footage.
  • Beat Detection: Utilizing AI models from Logic Pro, this tool analyzes music tracks to display a “Beat Grid” in the timeline, assisting editors in aligning cuts to musical rhythms.
  • Montage Maker (iPad only): An automated tool that edits video based on identified visual moments and can reframe horizontal footage for vertical formats.
  • Motion has been updated with a “Magnetic Mask” feature for isolating subjects without a green screen, while Compressor continues to handle output customization.
Audio Production Updates

Logic Pro receives updates aimed at both Mac and iPad users:

  • Synth Player: A new addition to the AI Session Player lineup, this tool generates electronic music performances, including chordal and synth bass parts. It supports third-party plug-ins and external hardware.
  • Chord ID: This feature analyzes audio or MIDI recordings to generate a chord track automatically, intended to speed up the transcription process.
  • Sound Library: The Mac version receives new instrument patches and loops, while the iPad version gains “Quick Swipe Comping” and natural language search for sound loops.
  • Music Understanding: Natural language search in the Sound Browser to help users describe a loop or find similar loops — no tags, guesses, or filters required
Pixelmator Pro launches on iPad

For the first time, the image editor Pixelmator Pro is available on iPad. The app has been optimized for touch and Apple Pencil interfaces. Features include a full Layers sidebar, smart selection tools, and support for Apple Pencil gestures (hover, squeeze, double-tap).

Both the Mac and iPad versions of Pixelmator Pro now include a “Warp” tool for manipulating layer shapes and “Super Resolution” for upscaling images.

Productivity and AI Integration

While Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform remain free for standard use, Apple Creator Studio subscribers gain access to premium capabilities:

  • Content Hub: A library of curated stock photos and graphics.
  • Generative AI: Integrated tools powered by OpenAI models allow users to generate images from text or draft presentations from outlines in Keynote.
  • Data Handling: Numbers gains “Magic Fill” for pattern-based formula generation.
