Telegram has released a new update in which the company has finally introduced secure passkey support for instant login without SMS codes. Alongside this, Telegram has also added features such as gift purchase offers with built-in scam protection and a simpler way to add audio from your profile to Stories.
Instant login to Telegram using Passkeys
Telegram users can now create a passkey on their device to instantly log in to Telegram using a PIN or biometric data such as Face ID or fingerprints, instead of an SMS code. Passkeys work anywhere, at any time, regardless of your location or interruptions in SMS service.
Passkeys offer enhanced security over traditional passwords by using public-key cryptography and are designed to be phishing-resistant. According to Telegram, the unique encrypted keys created for passkeys are stored on your device and can be synced with password management apps such as iCloud, Google, and more.
How to create Passkeys in Telegram?
- open Telegram app
- go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Passkeys
- Turn it ON and create your passkey
Gift Purchase Offers
Telegram is now offering a way to make an offer to buy a user’s gift. When viewing a gift on a user’s profile, you can now make an offer to buy the gift with Stars (In-app virtual currency) or TON (Native cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain).
- To make an offer, tap ⋯ or ⋮ while viewing a gift and select ‘Offer to Buy’
- When you make an offer, you set a price and a time limit.
Your payment is reserved for the duration of the offer. If the offer is rejected or expires, your full payment is instantly refunded. Gift offers are protected by Telegram and keep owners and buyers safe from scams.
Audio in Stories
When posting a Story, you can now quickly add audio from your profile playlist. Just tap the Sticker Button > Audio and choose files from Saved Music.
