YouTube has introduced its first annual YouTube Recap, offering users a personalised summary of their viewing activity for 2025. The feature was announced by Manthra Panchapakesan, Product Manager at YouTube, who highlighted that user watch history generally reflects a blend of different interests rather than a single theme.
What YouTube Recap includes
YouTube Recap provides up to 12 cards that present:
- Most-watched channels
- Top interests and deep-dive topics
- Changes in viewing habits over the year
- A personality type generated from watch behaviour
For users who streamed a significant amount of music, the Recap additionally displays:
- Top artists and top songs of the year
- Genre and podcast summaries
- A snapshot of international music listening through the YouTube Music app
Developed with extensive user feedback
According to YouTube, Recap was built with nine rounds of user feedback and more than 50 concept tests. During development, several viewer personality segments were identified, including Adventurer, Skill Builder, and Creative Spirit. Among these, the Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector groups were the most common, while the Philosopher and Dreamer groups appeared the least.
Availability
Recap is available starting today for users in North America and will roll out worldwide this week. It can be accessed from the homepage or the “You” tab on mobile and desktop, with the option to save and share Recap results.
