Intel unveils Foundry business for AI-Driven Systems

Intel has introduced Intel Foundry, sustainable systems foundry business aimed at the AI era. This initiative is part of Intel’s efforts to enhance its chip manufacturing capabilities while prioritizing sustainability.

Notable attendees included U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Arm CEO Rene Haas, Open AI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and others.

Expanding Process Roadmap for Future Leadership

The company has outlined an extended process roadmap to solidify its position as a leader in the industry for the next few years.

Intel’s roadmap now includes Intel 14A alongside specialized node evolutions, maintaining its commitment to the ambitious five-nodes-in-four-years (5N4Y) plan.

This roadmap aims to introduce innovative solutions, such as the industry’s first backside power solution with Intel 18A by 2025.

The roadmap incorporates advancements in Intel 3, Intel 18A, and Intel 14A process technologies, catering to diverse customer needs. These enhancements, including Intel 3-T optimized for 3D advanced packaging, ensure continuous improvement in product offerings.

Customer Endorsements Drive Momentum

Microsoft’s endorsement of Intel 18A for its chip design underscores growing customer support for Intel Foundry.

The company has secured design wins across various process generations, with an expected lifetime deal value exceeding $15 billion. Which includes:

IP and EDA Partnerships Strengthen Support: Intel’s ecosystem partners, including Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens, Ansys, Lorentz, and Keysight, have affirmed their readiness to enable advanced chip designs on Intel’s platforms.

These collaborations facilitate faster development and delivery of innovative solutions for customers.

Commitment to Sustainability

Intel reiterated its commitment to sustainability, aiming for 100% renewable electricity, net-positive water, and zero waste to landfills by 2030.

Additionally, the company targets net-zero GHG emissions by 2040 and net-zero upstream emissions by 2050, reaffirming its dedication to environmental responsibility.
