OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G: Full Dimension Fusion Portrait Video System to offer enhanced video experience

The OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G is coming to India on the January 18th, 2021, featuring a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED display, and it will be powered by the Dimensity 1000+ SoC. With regards to its video capabilities, OPPO had made a lot of improvements by adding their Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) Portrait Video System technology, giving users a portrait video experience for users.

The FDF Portrait Video System was developed in-house by OPPO and consists of two engines — the Quality Enhancement Engine and the Portrait Perception Engine. The first engine is a whole suite of algorithms that are tailored to optimize the settings when shooting video. This engine was further split into two components AI Highlight video and Ultra Steady 3.0.

The AI Highlight Video feature is a unique algorithm developed by OPPO, combining Ultra Night Video and Live HDR mode for the first time. It utilizes three technologies — Adaptive Brightness enhancement, Adaptive Dynamic Range and Adaptive Noise reduction to enhance the quality of video recording.

The second part of the Quality Enhancement engine is the Ultra Steady Video 3, which works to improve video stabilization in various scenarios such as  running, jumping, etc.

The Portrait Perception Engine is the second half of OPPO’s FDF Portrait Video system, in which the primary technology used is the Scene Design Manager. This particular technology utilized OPPO’s proprietary top-level portrait scene definition capabilities and laid out the processing requirements for these portraits.

After this, AI models and Deep neural networks can work on the image to recognize the portrait subject of the image and then apply post-processing on it for the perfect portrait image.

With all these technologies combined, the Full Dimension Fusion Portrait Video System on the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G will be one of the most advanced camera systems in an OPPO smartphone to date.
