Yahoo acquires photo app maker Cooliris

Yahoo has scooped up photo app maker company Cooliris for an undisclosed sum. Cooliris is known for its mobile photo-aggregator application Cooliris for Mobile that allows users to browse photos from multiple services like Flickr, Dropbox and others.

“Yahoo has a clear vision and unwavering commitment to making mobile an intuitive and effortless experience. This makes Yahoo the perfect partner for Cooliris, and we are excited to come together to bring indispensable products to a worldwide audience.”

posted Cooliris on a company blog.

Cooliris is also popular for its recently launched BeamIt Messenger for iOS that is focused on the photo sharing experience. It is not known yet if the app will keep on working independently or will Yahoo merge it into one of its services. Yahoo might use the Cooliris team to work with Flickr that was acquired by the company in 2005.
