Reliance Jio has officially launched 4G mobile services in Spangmik village near Pangong Lake in Ladakh and the company claims it is the first to provide 4G mobile connectivity in the area. Mobile Connectivity in the Ladakh and Leh regions is limited due to the geography, extreme weather, and government restrictions due to proximity to the international border.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced that it will roll out its 4G services across India by September 2022. Government is getting ready to conduct a new spectrum auction in April/June next year for 4G and 5G bands, according to the latest ET report. With new tariffs announced from the three major operators and 2-year temporary prohibition on spectrum payments, the government is confident that the operators will participate in the sale.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) just released recommendations on Auction of Spectrum in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, including 5G spectrum – 3300-3400 MHz and 3400-3600 MHz bands after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) requested TRAI to provide applicable reserve price, quantum of spectrum to be auctioned and associated conditions for auction of spectrum. State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has finally launched 4G services in India starting from Kerala. BSNL 4G services will be available at five locations – Udumbanchola, Udumbanchola Town, Kallupalam, Chemmannar and Senapathy in Kerala in the high range Idukki district and is expected to be roll out to other districts in Kerala later this year.
