Motorola Razr i Review

The mobile phone world is currently dominated by chipset makers such as Qualcomm, Nvidia and Apple, but old industry vet Intel is keen to claim a share of the pie for itself. It’s hoping that the Motorola RAZR i – essentially an updated version of the Motorola RAZR M – will be the device that grants a foothold in the smartphone arena, thanks to the fact that it features the new Medfield chipset, clocked at a powerful 2 GHz. Is this device impressive enough to steal away the thunder of rival Android devices, and can it establish a new era of dominance for the RAZR brand which revolutionized mobile phones almost a decade ago? We’re about to find out. Continue reading “Motorola Razr i Review”

Motorola RAZR i: It’s the RAZR we all know and love, but with Intel inside

Motorola has just unveiled the RAZR i this morning in the UK. It’s essentially the RAZR M that was announced earlier this month, but with an Intel chip instead of a Qualcomm chip. What you’re looking at above is a phone with a 4.3 inch qHD display, what we assume to be 1 GB of RAM, an Intel Atom with hyper-threading enabled that should be capable of delivering up to 2 GHz of performance, an 8 megapixel camera that’s supposedly very fast, and it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Motorola Mobility and Intel to hold a press conference on September 18th

Motorola Mobility is sending out invitations to a press conferences scheduled to take place on September 18th in London. What makes the invite stand out is the Intel logo that’s located right next to Motorla Mobility’s logo. This means we can look forward to seeing an x86 based smartphone from a “traditional” handset maker. There are several Intel based smartphones out on the market, but they’re from companies like Lava. That’s not to say Lava isn’t a great company, they just don’t have the same sort of clout that Motorola does.
