Andy Rubin, creator of Android and CEO of Essential just tweeted out a colorful glimpse into one of the most radically re-imagined compact smartphones we have ever seen. It’s long, it’s thin, there’s a huge camera at the back and also a fingerprint scanner. The guys at Essential call this device “GEM” and the first tweet from Andy (after almost an year) shows how color-shifty the design is. But it didn’t stop there.

Andy Rubin’s Essential revealed its first high-end smartphone last week. Now, the company is facing a trademark infringement legal suit from the US-based accessory and case maker Spigen. A legal document was acquired by Android Police that mentions Spigen already holds the trademark for “Essential” that covers a number of mobile accessories it sells, including phone cases, chargers, and headphones.

Andy Rubin’s Essential may unveil bezel-less smartphone with 360-degree camera on May 30

We already know that Android creator Andy Rubin is working on a bezel less smartphone under his new company Essential. Now, the company has tweeted “something big is coming” on May 30th, from its official Twitter account. In a consecutive tweet, Essential has shared a photo of the new smartphone in silhouette. There is a rounded attachment on top of the device, which the company later confirmed is a 360-degree camera unit.

Android chief Andy Rubin steps down, to be succeeded by Chrome boss Sundar Pichai

Andy Rubin, the main man behind Android even before it got acquired by Google, has decided to step down from the role as the head of Android to pursue other opportunities inside Google, as the official blog from Larry Page, the CEO of Google details. Andy will be succeeded by Sundar Pichai, who is currently heading the Chrome division, consisting of the browser, OS, apps and more recently the Chromebook Pixel. Does this mean Android and Chrome might finally merge one fine day?

Google to operate Motorola “At arm’s length”

The search gian, implored that the other Android manufacturers had nothing to be vexed about, when Motorola was taken over by Google. 6 Million Android tablets sold– Andy Rubin

Have you ever wondered how well are the Android tablets selling?

According to the god father of Android, Andy Rubin , who provided a detail about it,  6 million tablets have been sold at AsiaD yesterday. We had previously heard that only 3.4 million Honeycomb tablets have been sold till now, from developer estimates, previously this month.  If these developer estimates were to be precise, that means that a little over half the Android tablets out there,  are Honeycomb.
