Samsung has a history of introducing cases for their new smartphones and we’ve previously seen them introduce both flip and s-view window covers for the Note 4 and Galaxy S5 amongst other flagship devices. When designing for the Note Edge however, the company was clearly faced with a problem; how to make the unique Edge Screen – the key selling feature of the handset – accessible even when the cover is closed.

Just over a week ago we were in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress 2015 and, as I have done for many years now, I used my Vodafone SIM card with EuroTraveller to provide me data whilst on the ground. It’s been a year since we were last in MWC and in that time, Vodafone have introduced 4G Roaming in Spain alongside double speed 4G across their European network.
Traditionally Barcelona has really poor mobile data speeds (whether using a local SIM or roaming) during the MWC week as 90,000+ people descend upon the city for the annual conference. Ahead of the trip, I expected the traditional data coverage and speeds issues with previous years suggesting large ping times, really slow speeds and overall, a lack of reliable data. Following months of leaks and rumours, last week HTC unveiled its new HTC One M9 flagship during Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. Later the same day, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 but HTC’s flagship has a key advantage as it is set to go on sale several weeks’ before Samsung’s latest S handset. At IFA last year, Huawei’s new Ascend Mate 7 flagship might have stolen the show but they also introduced the Ascend G7 smartphone which borrowed design inspiration from other flagship smartphones and aimed to deliver a solid experience without requiring a large initial outlay. At a cost of £150-£200 in the UK, the LTE-enabled Ascend G7 is a smartphone with mid-range specifications and a flagship design coupled in a package designed to be affordable for everyone.
On paper, the Ascend G7 offers mid-range specifications without a standout feature but how does the smartphone perform?
