Display,Built and Battery
The 6630 has a brilliant 65k color TFT Screen with a resolution of 176x208. The display is very crisp, bright and is clearly visible in the sunlight. One of the major drawbacks of the 7610 for me was its keypad, but the 6630?s keypad buttons are placed in a logical manner which is one of the plus point of this phone. The response from the keypad is very good. The D-pad (5 way key) response was excellent too, much better than the previous Nokia Smartphone D-Pad. There are a few things missing on the physical side of the phone. There is no dedicated volume control, the D-Pad must be used to increasing or decreasing the volume. The volume control button has been replaced by the Voice Command button, which is located on the upper left side of the phone. You can record voice commands with your own voice for a particular application and then launch the application with your voice by just clicking on the Voice command button. You can also use the voice command button to activate or deactivate the Loudspeaker.
One of the problem for me with the 7610 was the battery life. To solve the problem to some extent the Nokia 6630 has a Light Sensor, which adjusts the brightness of the screen and the keypad. For example if you are outside in the sun, the display automatically turns brighter and the keypad light switches off automatically and when you are in a dark room the display goes dim and the keypad light is turned on. A nice feature, it sure saves a lot of battery power. I was quite happy with the battery backup that I got with the 6630. When fully charged the battery lasted for a bit under 4 hours of calls. With a few calls, a bit of data transfer via bluetooth and some messaging, the battery lasted for a day and a half. Suggestion:- I suggest you buy a Nokia N-Gage QD (BL-6C) battery for the 6630. I tried it and it works wonders! You get 20% more battery backup.
