User Interface

Nokia have re-designed the Interface of the 6230i, the icons are animated in the main menu. In my opinion the Nokia 6230i is slower than the 6230 the only reason that I can figure out is the higher display resolution. The 6230i lags a bit more while starting the camera.

The 6230i has Graphical themes, which changes your wallpaper, screensaver, and the color scheme. The phone comes with 3 built in games; street race, golf tour and backgammon. The games look quite good on the screen. The upgrade also supports 64 voice polyphonic ringtones, the ringtones sound much better and louder now compared to the 6230 which had only 24 voice polyphonic ringtones. Mp3 ringtones are also supported.

The phonebook can store 1000 contacts. Five numbers and five details can be stored in each contact. You can also attach a picture to a contact, the picture will appear when you receive a call. Searching a contact is also simple and easy, just type the first few letters of the contact. The first-last name has not been solved as yet. Synchronization of the phonebooks with computer is fast and easy. You can use Outlook Express to sync the contacts.

There seems to be a problem with the T9 dictionary. Many words that are frequently used were not present in my 6230i dictionary. This seems to be one of the main flaws in the phone. There is no doubt that Nokia has installed a new T9 Dictionary in the 6230i. The previous version of the T9 dictionary was much better in my opinion. The major problem is many of the words that were frequently used were not present in the 6230i dictionary.
