Asus has announced a refreshed version of the Transformer Pad Infinity at the Computex 2013 in Taipei. It has a 10.1-inch (2560 x 1600 pixels) LED backlit 10-point multi-touch IPS display with 178-degree wide viewing angles, powered by a 1.9GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor with quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU and 72-core GeForce GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has ASUS SonicMaster-enhanced audio and a redesigned 254mm keyboard dock with multi-touch touchpad. Asus has announced the MeMO Pad HD 7 at the Computex 2013. It is the successor of the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V that was announced earlier this year. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS 10-point multi-touch display with 170-degree wide viewing angles, powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Asus SonicMaster Audio Technology and Stereo Speakers for enhanced audio output.

Asus has announced the MeMO Pad FHD 10 the company’s latest high-end Android tablet at the Computex 2013. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor, has a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200) WUXGA display and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixels auto focus rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The company unveiled the MeMO Pad Smart with a 10.1-inch HD display earlier this year. MediaTek announces new MT8125 Quad Core chip for tablets

MediaTek, the well known chip manufacturer, famous for the low cost powerful SoCs, has launched another SoC, codenamed the MT8125 specifically aimed at tablets. The tablet market as we know is currently dominated by the smaller ones, that are of the mid range segment, driving volume for the overall market, according to IDC. At this crucial time, MediaTek seems to want to take advantage, by releasing its own solution for tablets after the success of its MT6589 Quad Core chips in various phones in the low-mid range. The Quad Core Cortex A7 processor will support frequencies upto 1.5 GHz and will be powered by the PowerVR Series5XT graphics.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link that was announced earlier this year is now on pre-order in India from online retailer Flipkart. The tablet has a 10.1-inch HD (1280 x 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Huawei Hi-Silicon Processor with 16 Core GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has 3G support via SIM card slot,  Dolby Surround Sound and packs a 6600 mAh battery that would offer 6 hours of continuous gaming or 8 hours of continuous video playback. Lava International has launched the E-Tab XTRON+, successor of the E-Tab XTRON that was launched back in February. It has a has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) capactive multi-touch IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor similar to its predecessor, but this runs on Android 4.2.2. (Jelly Bean), has a HDMI port, 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera.

Tablet shipments expected to exceed total PC shipments in 2015

IDC, the analysis company that analyses several markets every quarter has released a report that Tablet shipments are all set to overtake total PC shipments in 2015. With a rapidly growing tablet market, IDC notes that the landscape is changing after the flood of low cost Android tablets with screen sizes less than 8 inches, which might contribute as much as 57% of the total tablet market in 2017, while the rest is constituted by bigger tablets, mostly the iPad. The iPad mini too might be a  proven driver in the sales of small tablets.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z launched in India for a price of Rs.46,990

Sony launched its Xperia Tablet Z at the Mobile World Congress and it recently went on pre-order for about Rs.44,990 at several online retailers in India, but now, at a launch event in New Delhi, Sony has finally launched it here, for a price of Rs. 46,990. Boasting a brilliant 10.1 inch 1920×1200 display, the tablet aims to be the big screened point of interaction for all of Sony’s services like Music unlimited and Movies. We had went hands on with the device back in February at the MWC event and were left quite impressed. But with a steep price, will it find its way into people’s hands? Only time will tell.

Sure these devices still can’t compete with the iPads of the world but that is not the target audience. ASUS Fonepad vs Apple iPad mini

We just finished reviewing the ASUS Fonepad and witnessed a launch of its beefed up variant too, but that won’t stop us from comparing the new calling tablet from ASUS with the similarly priced small tablets that we have in our labs. Like we compared it with the Samsung Galaxy Note 510 and the Galaxy Tab 2 310, we are now comparing it to the Apple iPad mini, which is probably the best small tablet money can buy right now. So, how does the ASUS Fonepad compare to the smaller iPad? We took them both in front of the camera to find out –
