Recently we were invited for a HUAWEI Blogger's Meet in Mumbai and were shown 3 recently launched HUAWEI Android devices. Here are some hands-on photos of the SONIC.
HUAWEI SONIC is an entry level 3G Android phone running Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 with 3.5-inch HVGA LCD display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 SOC (System on Chip) running at 600MHz with 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM. It has 1400mAh Li-ion battery.
[gallery link="file" orderby="title"]
We were quite impressed by this device. The 3.5-inch HVGA display is actually quite nice and one of the best we have seen in any entry level Android device. It was quiet sharp despite the HVGA resolution and quite bright. SONIC has full plastic body but its complete matte finish with soft touch gives quite nice feel while handling the device. SONIC has been launched in India and it's already available in retail market at MOP of Rs. 8,900.
We will review the HUAWEI SONIC soon.

I recently had opportunity to play with Samsung GALAXY ACE White edition which launched in India recently with Android 2.3.5. Here are some hands-on pictures for all FoneArena readers. Enjoy….

[gallery link="file"]

ACE in white looks quite stunning. Now its preloaded with Android 2.3.5 which provides performance boost to the ACE. It is quite smooth and snappy out of the box compared to Android 2.2 (Froyo). Other that the software it is similar to the black version of the Galaxy Ace The current MOP of ACE White edition is Rs. 14500/- in Mumbai, India.

HUAWEI MEDIAPAD is world’s first Android Honeycomb 3.2 Tablet with 7” WXGA (1280*800) IPS LCD Display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 Dual Core SOC (System on Chip) running at 1.2GHz with 1GB RAM & upto 32GB MicroSD storage. It has 4100mAh Li-ion battery.
We immediately noticed the high quality metal (Aluminium) unibody design. The feel of the tablet in hand was simply fantastic. It is light weight (390g) similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7 or 7.0 plus. The display is one of the brightest IPS LCD we have ever seen on any Tablet. MEDIAPAD was quite smooth while playing with it, thanks to the Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 SOC running at 1.2GHz with 1GB RAM. We also noticed that it’s two stereo speakers were quite loud. It accepts standard GSM/3G sim and is also ready for HSPA+ networks for blazing fast DATA connectivity. The current MOP (Market Operated Price) of MEDIAPAD is Rs. 28000/- in India.

Finally Nokia is taking the Dual SIM market seriously in India as the company launched yet another Dual SIM phone , the X2-02 last week at it's Annual Strategy Sharing Summit in Udaipur. The X2-02 reminds us of the X1-01 but the big difference is the presence of a hot-swappable SIM card slot on the outside. There is a Easy Swap feature which lets to store settings of up to 5 SIM cards. The phone also has a hot-swappable microSD card slot with support for 32GB cards. One of the killer features is the built-in FM Transmitter which Nokia calls as Play via Radio. You can have your own radio station in your car. One can also tune-in to radio stations without connecting a headset , thanks to the internal FM receiver.
The X2-02 will come in 5 colours including Bright Red (pictured below) , Dark Silver, Orange, Violet and Ocean Blue and will be priced at around Rs.4000-4500 approx at launch. For that price tag , you also get access to Nokia Music Unlimited which lets you download DRM-free tracks from a really massive music collection.

RIM launched three new handsets in India recently. We got to spend some time with the three and have put down some thoughts. The first in the line is the new Curve 9350 , a CDMA based device.
The smartphone has cut weight and is smaller in size than its predecessors resulting in an extremely pocketable device. The display resolution is HVGA which is a major step up from previous Curve models. The phone runs the new BB OS 7 on a 800 Mhz processor.
The gently curved shape and use of high quality plastics in the Curve 9350 definitely make it a looker. Despite weighing just 99g , the phone does not feel flimsy. The combination of shiny plastic on the battery cover with the matte body make for a rather elegant device.
It might not be the thinnest device in the market right now but at 11mm , it is certainly very easy to grab hold off. Overall nothing to complain about in the dimensions aspect.
The camera on the Blackberry 9360 is a 5MP unit capable of capturing VGA video. A bit of a bummer on that front as we expected it to capture 720p video like every other new smartphone ...

One of the more interesting devices out of RIM's three handset launch recently is the Blackberry Curve 9380. The device is being marketed as the first consumer oriented , mass market full touch Blackberry device. The 9380 is a part of the consumer centric Curve series of devices and looks almost identical to the 9350 from the back.
The front of the Curve 9380 is dominated by a 3.2" touchscreen. The resolution here is the same as that on the Curve 9380 ie 480x360. This results in a decidedly low ppi for a screen that size. The touchscreen is generally bright and responsive.
The bottom of the devices has four backlit buttons. THe hardware buttons are separated by an optical trackpad in the middle.
The back of the Curve 9380 is identical to its keypad enabled sibling , the Curve 9350. Smooth fingerprint-prone plastic is flanked by high quality matte black plastics on both sides.
The camera remains a 5MP unit capable of VGA recording. We would've loved to see RIM add 720p video capture to the phone but that might be expecting a bit too much from the 800Mhz single core processor.
The left side has a micro USB port and nothing else. Rather ...

RIM introduced a new addition to its Bold series alongside its Curve series siblings at the launch yesterday. The baby Bold as it has been positioned has a lot going for it. We had some hands on time with it. Click through to read more about the Bold 9790.
Use the Bold 9790 for 5 minutes and the resemblance to the higher end Bold 9900 jumps out at you. RIM has definitely made some cuts to get to the lower price point but it is through and through a Bold series device. The build quality remains impeccable.
The 2.44" touchscreen on the 9790 is on the smaller size but highly sensitive. Touches and swipes are accurately detected. The screen is a 480x360 panel with 246ppi which is good enough for such a small screen.
The keypad while not as good as the one on the 9900 is one of the better ones we've used in a while. The raised notches certainly help in typing. The typing experience on the 9790 is top notch and you'll have nothing to complain about.
A 5MP camera is located at the back of the device alongside a bright LED flash. Internally the phone uses a 1Ghz processor instead ...

We got some time to play with the recently announced Nokia 710 , Windows 7.5 based phone. We also had the HTC Radar which is a close match to the 710 in terms of specifications and target market.
Click through to check out some comparative images and our thoughts on the two.
The Nokia 710 feels like a mid range device through and through. This is compounded by the fully plastic construction of the phone. In comparison the HTC Radar follows a unibody design philosophy making liberal use of aluminum along with elegant while plastic panels.
Owing to the aluminum construction , the Radar is however heavier than the 710. Over all , we'd rate the HTC Radar higher in the looks department.
Both phones come with 5MP camera units capable of auto focus and 720p video. While we cannot comment on the image quality of the 710 without a full review , you can get a better idea of the camera on the Radar by reading our review.
As can be seen above , the 710 is just a bit thicker than the Radar. The 710 however feels just as comfortable if not more than the Radar when held in hand. The gently curve of ...

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first device from Nokia showcasing the result of the partnership between them and Microsoft. However the phone which had really caught the imagination of smartphone enthusiasts all over the world was the Nokia N9.
Now it is very clear that the Nokia 800 borrows heavily from the design of the N9 but why change something which is obviously gorgeous ? So what has changed between them ? Read on to take a closer look at some of the obvious (and non obvious differences) !
Software
One look at the homescreen and you can see the world of difference between the MeeGo Harmattan OS on the N9 vs Windows Phone 7 on the 800. The WP7 operating system relies on a system of 'Live Tiles' which represents app icons both static and dynamic in a form of tiles.
On the other hand MeeGo Harmattan on the Nokia N9 does not include widgets in any form. What you do get are notifications of messages and call notifications on the standby screen and in the events view panel. The Nokia N9 relies on a 3 panel system varying between notifications , apps and multitasking bypassing the concept of a desktop as ...

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note in India yesterday at Rs.34500 and we got a chance to compare the beast with the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S. Here are some pictures for you. The iPhone 4S looks so tiny next to the Galaxy Note's 5.3 inch Screen. Some might feel that its a tablet sitting next to a phone. More pics after the break. The Note also packs a stylus on the back known as the S Pen

We hope you have seen Michael's (@MichaelxHell) - Swipetastic review of the Nokia N9. Now, we let the Nokia N9 do the talking through this photo gallery of the device.
The Nokia N9 is definitely the most sexy and beautiful devices out there and one of the best ever.. I would like to thank my team for the support without which this gallery would not have been possible.
You can view larger versions of the picture by clicking on them. Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions :D
Simply Elegant
I've always wanted to do a light trail picture of a phone and I felt that the Nokia N9 would be the perfect subject since the light trails could be interpreted as "Swipes".
Nokia N9 beside its packaging which I quite liked. Has everything you need including a silicon case.
The display is just a treat. The combination of curved glass and AMOLED work really well. It feels tougher than most screens at the same time providing a very smooth touch.
You can see a sort of ghost image which I think is the result of the curved glass. This is not an issue when using the device since it becomes invisible. Unless you plan on ...

Meet the Nokia 700 which is one of the sexiest smartphones we have come across in recent times. We fell in love with the form factor and screen instantly. Nokia is claiming it is the smallest smartphone. The AMOLED display is a treat to use and the UI was fluid due to the 1GHz processor and the Symbian Belle OS.Take a look at the photos below and feel free to shoot any questions about the phone.

Nokia announced the 701 along with the 600 and 700 at the event in Hong Kong. We got our hands on the Nokia 701 and it is certainly a well designed phone taking cues from the C7. Nokia claims the phone is the brightest phone in the market( We are checking if its brighter than the LG Optimus Black). Take a look at the photos below. Video coming really soon.

We decided to put the phone under a powerful light which was very powerful and we could still manage to read the text on the screen.

Just when everyone was thinking , Symbian has reached it's end Nokia surprised us by launching 3 new Symbian phones running the newest version of Symbian - Belle and packing other interesting goodies such as a 1GHz Processor and NFC ( Near Field Communication ). We got our hands on the most affordable phone of the trio - the Nokia 600 which is also supposed to be the loudest smartphone from Nokia so far. Take a look at the pics below. A video should be up soon as well.
The 600 was pretty fast and a bit thicker than the rest. It has an inbuilt FM Radio receiver and a 5 MP Camera on the back which is also capable of HD video recording.
Looks like they have done something different with the microUSB cover.

This is the review of the Samsung Galaxy S II mesh case. The case is made by Samsung themselves. Initially it was available only in Black but later more colours were released including Blue, Pink, Red etc. We are reviewing the Blue version.
Now I’ll state this first since a lot of people have accidentally purchased the fake version. At first look they appear genuine but they are not. Here are some of the steps to identify the fake ones:
Check the logo on the backside of the cover. The logo has the same font as the Samsung Galaxy S II start up logo etc. It is cursive (the S letter is stylized) and has been engraved on a silver palette. The fake models however have a basic font and are engraved onto a gold palette. Even if the palette if silver, the font should help you recognize it. I have included three pictures below to demonstrate the differences. The first one is the original case. The second two are examples of fake cases.
Secondly there’s the price, the fake ones will be priced lower and they will be of inferior quality.
Lastly the original cases will most likely come in a Samsung see ...

This is the review of the Casemate Barely There case for the Samsung Galaxy S II. The review unit is the Chrome model. You can also get the Galaxy S II case in other colours such as Black etc.
The case is meant for the International version of the Galaxy S II and I doubt it will work with the Korean version since the Korean model is thicker. The Korean version also has an antenna for which the case doesn't seem to make room for.
From the name itself, you can gather that the case is really thin especially considering the fact that it is a hard case. It is one of the thinnest cases for the Galaxy S II along with the SGP Ultra Thin Air Case. The case is mainly aimed for those people who need to protect their device against scratches while still retaining much of the original thickness and design of the phone.
The case could possibly be as thin as most silicone and flexishield cases. It is made out of plastic and has a glossy finish (the finish varies depending on the colour, the black version has a matte finish). The glossy finish manages to attract a lot ...

Don’t let the recent news that Facebook’s growth is slowing fool you into thinking that the social networking phenomenon's popularity is one the wane - Mark Zuckerberg’s creation continues to dominate the lives of millions upon millions of people worldwide, and you need no further indication of its power than the launch of not one but two ‘Facebook phones’ from the Taiwanese giant HTC.
Announced with a reasonable degree of fanfare at Mobile World Congress back in February, these two devices boast a unique Facebook button which allows you to post items to your wall in double-quick time. Is this gimmick enough to make them stand out in a rapidly-crowding Android marketplace, and can it give HTC the edge over rivals such as Samsung, Motorola and - of course - Apple? We’ve had both the Salsa and ChaCha for a while now and intend to find out.
Purely from a hardware perspective, the two siblings couldn’t feel more different. The Salsa is your typical touch-screen device, with the aforementioned Facebook button being the only physical input on the front of the phone. The rest of ...

The Apple iPhone 4 is the most popular camera on the Flickr network. Its 5 megapixel camera along with the tons of photography software is more than enough for most users. But there is some good news for the photo geeks.
This is the world's first DSLR mount for the iPhone and we think it might be the first for any phone. The DSLR mount allows you to attach your own DSLR lenses to use with the iPhone 4.
The lenses then function just as they would on a normal DSLR. You will be able to get the maximum out of your iPhone.
It costs 240 US $ but for such a unique piece of equipment, we think it's worth the price. You get an aluminum case, SLR adapter and UV filter. You can also attach a camera strap. Both Nikon and Canon lenses are compatible. The iPhone 3 version is available for 190 US $.
Currently it is only available for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3 but we think that similar products may release for other phones as well. We would love one for the Nokia N8. You can purchase it here.
Here are some of the camera samples taken using DSLR lenses:

Today we will be reviewing the Flexishield Wave skin for the Samsung Galaxy S II. You can read the review of the Flexishield Skin for the Galaxy S II here.
The flexishield wave skin we are reviewing is the clear skin and it is available in a variety of other colours as well. The Galaxy S II case is compatible with the international version and the gap at the top right corner indicates that it might be compatible with the Korean version as well. The gap might be intended for the extendable antenna on the Korean version.
Although the Wave skin is also made by Flexishield, it is totally different from the case we reviewed before. The wave skin has a different design. The wave skin is slimmer than the original skin and thus retains the slim profile of the Galaxy S II. But that doesn’t mean that the protection it provides is any less.
We manage to fit the case on easier than the black flexishield we tested earlier. This could be due to the fact that this is thinner and more flexible.
The case covers the volume up/down rocker and the power key. The case doesn't affect usability of the buttons. The ...

It’s taken a while to emerge, but the Sony Ericsson Neo is finally with us. Shipments of this Xperia-branded Android device were delayed by the recent natural disaster in Japan, but now that it’s here we’re pleased to report that it’s been worth the wait. We’re giving you a little taster of what this likable mid-range device is capable of, and we’ll be following it up with the usual exhaustive FoneArena review in the not-too-distant future.
Looking at the Xperia Neo for the first time calls to mind one of its recently-launched brothers, the PlayStation-certified Xperia Play. Front the front, the two phones look very much alike, with only the missing ‘search’ button and enlarged front-facing camera standing out as key differences. The Neo shares the Play’s metal-effect plastic sides, too - although around the back, it’s a different story.
The Neo boasts a cool gradient effect on its battery cover, and the unit we looked at featured a black and metallic blue combination. We wouldn't begin to suggest that it will be to everyone’s tastes, but it certainly tickled our fancy.
The Neo’s 3.7-inch ...
