After Karbonn, Airtel has partnered with Celkon to launch Celkon Smart 4G, a VoLTE phone with support for 24 Indian languages at an effective price of Rs. 1349. It is part of Airtel’s Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone initiative under which the operator will partner with multiple mobile manufacturers in an aim to create an ‘open ecosystem’ of affordable 4G smartphones and bring them to market for virtually the price of a feature phone. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 gets a Rs. 1000 permanent price cut in India, now starts at Rs. 13999

Xiaomi launched the Mi Max 2 smartphone with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage in India back in July for Rs. 16999. Last month it launched the 32GB storage version of the phone in the country for Rs. 14,999 and it offered it at an introductory price of Rs. 12999. It usually offers Rs. 2000 temporary discount during festive sales. Today the company has announced a Rs. 1000 permanent price cut for both the versions of the phone. Sony Mobile just launched Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus, two new mid-range smartphones exclusively in India. Both these come with a 5.2-inch HD 2.5D curved glass screen, are powered by Snapdragon 430 Octa-Core SoC, run Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is upgradable to Android 8.0 (Oreo), come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Exmor and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Amazon Prime membership introductory price of Rs. 499 ends October 30

Amazon launched its Prime delivery service in India last year in July for an introductory price of Rs. 499. Earlier this month the company said that it will increase the subscription fee for its ‘Prime’ service to Rs. 999 in India in the coming days. Today the company has announced that the offer will end on October 30th, 2017 after which the program will move to the full price of Rs. 999 a year. Reliance Jio has announced 70% buyback on the iPhone X, similar to what it had announced for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Under this offer, customers who pre-book the iPhone X by paying Rs. 1999 and opt for the Rs. 799 or higher Jio tariff plan would be eligible for 70% of the MRP as buyback amount on return of the device after a year. NVIDIA launched GeForce GTX 1070 last year. Now it has introduced the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and the GTX 1070 Ti Founders Edition has been priced in India. It is based on new Pascal architecture and is built on TSMC’s 16nm FinFET process, similar to the GTX 1070, but this is more powerful with 2,432 cores. India’s smartphone shipments cross 40 million in Q3 2017, becomes second largest smartphone market: Canalys

After a slight downfall in the Q2 2017,  smartphone market in India has recovered quickly with shipments growing 23% year on year in Q3 2017. A total of 40 million units were sold in India just in Q3 2017 and for the first time, India has overtaken the U.S. to become the second largest second largest smartphone market after China, according to the latest report from Canalys.
