MediaNama is reporting that Online Retailer Flipkart.com is all set to acquire competitor LetsBuy.com . Flipkart is the leading online retailer in India and has taken the India e-commerce market by storm. LetsBuy has been giving a tough fight to Flipkart especially in Mobile Phones and Tablets with competitive pricing and coupons. I have shopped on both Flipkart and LetsBuy and have noticed some products which are not available on Flipkart are available on LetsBuy as the latter seems to have a larger inventory.
Developing story ..

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has exempted the daily SMS limit of 200 for machine to machine and person to machine messages. TRAI restricted mobile users from sending more than 100 SMS / day per SIM starting 27th September 2011, to prevent pesky marketing SMS. Later they increased the limit from 100 to 200 SMS / day per SIM.
TRAI exempted the limit for these business houses after they received representations from the stakeholders that they were not able to send machine to machine and person to machine SMSs which are sent by them to initiate process or application for their operational requirements.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is actually a sweet device and currently the only one in the world according to my knowledge to run on Android 4.0 also known as ICS. The Galaxy Nexus is the 3rd member of the Nexus family of devices from Google and it is a c0-branded handset from Google and Samsung which runs on stock Android without any customization. The device was supposed to be launched in November last year and was postponed to December. Now more bad news as Samsung India's official account tweeted that the device will now be tentatively launched in March. Still no definitive date though. Having used the Galaxy Nexus for around a month now , I actually like the device for a few things - Ice Cream Sandwich , it will be the first device to get Android updates as it is pushed directly by Google. The Camera is also incredibly fast. One thing i dislike about the device is the low quality of build materials used. Each time I open the back cover, I have a feeling it will break.
I don't understand what is stopping Samsung from releasing this handset soon in India. Are they afraid of jeopardizing sales ...

Airtel has announced that the Easy Recharge for pre-paid customers on airtel.in now supports payments via Net banking. They launched the online recharge for the prepaid users across India last August. It had payment support via Master/Visa credit or debit cards. Now the net banking support is a great advantage for those who have online net banking accounts.
The users can recharge using their Visa / Master Credit or Debit card or via Net banking in 3 simple steps. They just need to enter their number, select the required amount and enter the credit or debit card details through the secure payment gateway. The transaction summary shows the details before payment and the recharge is complete in the 3rd step after the payment is made.
Airtel prepaid mobile customers can head to airtel.in and click on prepaid mobile under recharge prepaid tab or simply type airtel.in/prepaidrecharge in their browser to get to the recharge page.

Reuters is reporting that the world's largest e-commerce site Amazon.com is in the process of setting up it's first fulfillment center at Mumbai in India. Reuters is stating this based on certain job openings on Amazon India's career portal. Amazon already has a presence in India in Chennai , Bangalore and Hyderabad but these centers only handle R&D and customer service.
FoneArena has learnt that this company would operate as Amazon Seller Services Private Limited . The company owns amazon.in and amazon.co.in. It's not clear if the company will use these urls to handle orders from India.Interestingly , a job listing was posted on 10th Oct 2011 for Manager Delivery Operations. This role involves setting up infrastructure in the city for delivering products to customers. Knowledge of topography of Mumbai is also required for the job which is a strong indication that the e-commerce giant is planning to actually do business in India.
Amazon currently ships a small number of items from it's vast catalog to India. These orders are mostly fullfilled by Amazon USA or Amazon UK. I had purchased a Logitech Revue Google TV on Amazon USA and a couple of programming books on Amazon UK and the items took ...
