Nokia has made official a new colour variation of their first Windows Phone 7 device, the Lumia 800. Joining the previously announced black, cyan and magenta Lumia 800 is the white version, due out later this month.
My friend Chris Davies of Slashgear has gone hands-on with the device and describes the finish as more glossy than matte - similar to the white Nokia N9. Specs wise, the white Lumia 800 is the same as its siblings - meaning 1.4GHz Snapdragon SoC, 8MP camera and 3.7" AMOLED CBD display.
What do you think? Would a white Lumia 800 interest you, or would you prefer to wait for the inevitable white Lumia 900?

But we at FoneArena reckons that Three are merely hedging their bets that owners of white iPad tablets and uhm, the iPhone 4S/5, will be wanting something a bit more matching for their sexy new Apple hardware.
Beneath the shiny new white exterior lies the same HSPA+ chipset as on the black E586, capable of delivering download speeds up to 21.1Mbps and pumping out data to the internet at speeds up to 5.76Mbps.
Like its ebony cousin, this Christmas themed MiFi will feature the same bright OLED screen which will display network statuses, signal strength, device connections and data consumption. It will also contain a microSDHC card slot, allowing users to use the MiFi as a USB storage. A new white cradle charger will also be made available.
David Kerrigan, Head of Mobile Broadband at Three commented: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers a seasonal twist on our great new MiFi. With groundbreaking technology inside, users can also enjoy the full benefit of Three’s award winning mobile broadband network".

Amazon today announced a handful of new Kindle e-reader products, including the first ever Kindle with a colour display - the Kindle Fire.
Firstly, Amazon has lowered the barrier of entry once again with a new entry level Kindle. For $79, the WiFi-powered Kindle Button features a none-touch 6" e-ink display. It will be the first Kindle without a built-in QWERTY keyboard. The new Kindle Button will be available from today.
Next up is the $99 Kindle Touch. Like the Kindle Button, the Kindle Touch will not have a QWERTY keyboard. Instead text entry will rely on the infrared touchscreen similar to the technology used by Sony on their PRS e-readers. WiFi is included as standard. A 3G version is priced at $149. Both versions will be available from November.
Finally, Android has announced that it will be making its entry to the tablet market with the Kindle Fire. Priced at $199, the Kindle Fire will feature a 7" IPS display and dual core CPU. It will run on a fork of Android, and thus will be compatible with Android apps. The Kindle Fire will be compatible with a few Amazon services announced today, including the multimedia orientated Whispersync and Amazon Cloud ...

US network AT&T has announced three new Windows Phone 7 Mango smartphones, the Samsung Focus S, Samsung Focus Flash and the already announced HTC Titan.
The Samsung Focus S will feature a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus screen, the same one that can be found on their current Android flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S II. Like the Galaxy S II, it will have a very thin body - measuring just 8.5mm, the same thickness of the Galaxy S II at its thinnest point. The Focus Flash on the other hand will have a smaller 3.7" Super AMOLED screen. Both of these smartphones will have a 1.4 GHz processor of the single core variety.
Not much is known for either devices though we do know that the Focus S will have a 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front facing camera. The Focus Flash will have a 5MP rear camera and front facing camera with unspecified resolution.
No pricing has been released, though they are expected to arrive on the fourth quarter of this year. It is unknown if Samsung plans to release these phones worldwide.

Vodafone UK today announced the 555 Blue, a budget Facebook phone aimed at the masses.
The phone will feature a QWERTY monoblock design, 2.4" touchscreen display with QVGA resolution, Bluetooth, FM radio, 2 Megapixel camera with LED flash and microSD card slot. It relies on 2.5G EDGE data for connection and will not feature any sort of 3G and WiFi connectivity. Like the HTC ChaCha, the 555 Blue will also have a dedicated Facebook button.
But unlike the HTC ChaCha, it will run on Vodafone's own OS , so no, you will not find Android here.
Unsurprisingly the 555 Blue will feature deep Facebook integration, including the ability to set updates and view newsfeed, wall updates and notifications on the homescreen. In addition to that, Facebook Profiles will also be integrated with the phone book.
The 555 Blue will be made available in the UK and other Vodafone markets from next month for around £70.

Looks like all the clouds are gearing up to store your music, with BestBuy launching its own Cloud Music service called the 'Music Cloud'. The Cloud storage has become the latest trend, with the Amazon, Google and Apple already announcing their own versions of the cloud music services.
The service lets users to upload all their music stuff to the Cloud storage, and stream music on multiple devices, which includes mobiles, tablets and PC. The Music Cloud comes with an easy to install software, which allows you to save all your songs on your device , to continue listening them when you are offline. But the main drawback with the service is that, you can sync music files only with the iTunes, and we are expecting BestBuy to fix this problem soon.
The new music service will be available in two versions - Lite (Free) and Premium ($3.99/month). The BestBuy Music Cloud is powered by Catch Media’s PlayAnywhere technology and is currently available only on iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices, running on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Alltel service providers.

SPB Mobile Shell is one of the essential applications I have on my Nokia N8 and previously on my older Windows Mobile phones. It is a replacement application launcher that works not only quicker and better than Nokia's default homescreen, but also in a way that makes the device much more pleasant to use. So when SPB asked if I wanted to try out the beta for SPB Shell 3D for Android, I seized the chance. It is hard getting excited about applications these days, more so mobile applications, but I truly had high hopes for SPB.
Those familiar with how the homescreen of Android works will immediately feel at home with SPB Shell 3D. It supports widgets, including default Android ones as well as third party widgets. With so many launchers on the Android Marketplace, SPB has plenty of competition to think about. SPB dubs the 3D elements as SPB Carousel and it definitely has a wow factor to it. It is an extension to the 3D carousel on older version of Mobile Shell, but is also more ...

Rumors hint about Sprint planning to launch three new devices: Nexus S 4G, HTC EVO 3D and EVO View, at the CTIA event which is going to be held at the end of March. Sources say that Sprint is getting ready to kick-off at the event with the launch of these new 4G devices.
The first one is the Nexus S 4G from Samsung. As the name suggests, this might be the next version of the Nexus S, equipped with 4G radios. So the new version of Nexus S can be expected with some WiMAX and CDMA capabilities.
The next device, the HTC EVO 3D, is another 3D phone which might be launched to keep up with the latest trend of 3D capable devices and especially to take on the LG Optimus 3D. So this phone might be the successor of HTC EVO 4G combined with 3D capabilities.
The last device is the HTC EVO View, a CDMA version of the Flyer tablet which was introduced at MWC 2011.
So get ready to experience the 4G power and do watch this space for more updates.

This is a dual-touchscreen prototype phone that Fujitsu unveiled at CEATEC 2010.
It is a design concept. A clamshell phone with two-touchscreens instead of one touchscreen and a keypad. The phone flips open both vertically and horizontally.
The design and concept is very interesting and the phone is pretty well built. The phone looks very futuristic like from a Sci-Fi movie.
The only problem is that it is meant only for the Japanese market and that it runs on their own primitive OS. Android would have been great even though it would be very tough to embed it.
The two screens would make it a great experience for web browsing as well as movie viewing.

Seems like the reports we gathered the last week regarding Google Nexus One is coming to reality. As reported by Engadget, Google has officially announced a press gathering for Android on the January 5th. While the page doesn't itself reveal much, we are expecting the launch of Nexus on this day.
The page says a few simple lines:
With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we've seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what's possible.
Please join us in Mountain View on January 5, for an Android press gathering.
This seems to be perfectly in time, ahead of the events of Apple and of Nokia. Will keep you updated on the announcement of the day.

Apple finally releases the iPhone in China, WiFi-less

Finally, after a long 2 year wait, Apple has officially announced the Apple iPhone with Unicom as its official network provider. But, as it always is with Apple, the Chinese versions of the iPhone will be shipping without what may be it's most important feature, WiFi.
Yes, apple have released a WiFi-less iPhone, something that I consider very important since the iPhone's software is kinda designed to always work best on WiFi networks. But if you Chinese guys(and ladies) can live without WiFi then you can always pick them up at 4,999 yuan($730) and 6,999 yuan($1,025). This pricing is quite strange since a regular iPhone 3GS(with wifi) can easily be bought for $835 in the black.
But this WiFi-less version of the iPhone may soon disapear considering that this initial batch was built when the Chinese government had it's WiFi ban in force and since this was recently lifted I guess it won't be soon before we see WiFi coming to these chinese iPhones. Maybe this is why the folks over at 163.com are reporting that there aren't many people rushing to buy the iPhones.

Mobile users are always craving for the next handset be it a low end basic phone or a kick ass smart phone. Thanks to a lot of competition in the market. We have a lot of choices when buying a new phone. That being said , still some phones are on their way to shops India. So we decided to put up this poll to figure out which handset is being anticipated the most amongst FoneArena readers
