It seems apt that Nokia has chosen to announced a new colour Lumia 800 this week. Europe has been blankated by snow - so what better way than to celebrate than making official the white version. White is a popular colour for a phone, and while the previous versions has always looked so darn beautiful on the Lumia 800's Polycarbonate unibody shell, it just isn't quite as sexy as it is in white.
Unlike its technicolour cousins, the white Lumia 800 features a glossy finish rather than matte. This means that it attracts fingerprints, and doesn't hide scratches nearly as well as matte. Why no matte? Well Nokia's explanation is that a glossy finish is easier to clean than a matte one - highly critical with a product of this colour. Regardless the glossy finish really compliments the snow white colour really well. While it does attract fingerprints, it isn't as apparent as I assumed it would be.
In any case all four of the Lumia 800 features the exact same specifications, down to the 16GB storage - meaning, unlike the N9, there is no 64GB version. Still you can't argue that the white version does looks rather sleek, and would no ...

Yesterday Nokia all but confirmed the white Lumia 800, which we will go hands-on soon. But they also showed off another Windows Phone device. Whether accidental or intentional, the Lumia 900 sans AT&T logo is featured, in plain sight, on their Facebook page. And in white.
While Nokia has not confirmed the international variant of the Lumia 900, it is expected that the specifications will remain the same as the AT&T version, minus the LTE radio. As MWC is in the next couple of weeks, speculation is rife that Nokia will announce the GSM version of the Lumia 900, and this leak will only further confirm that.

Nokia has made official a new colour variation of their first Windows Phone 7 device, the Lumia 800. Joining the previously announced black, cyan and magenta Lumia 800 is the white version, due out later this month.
My friend Chris Davies of Slashgear has gone hands-on with the device and describes the finish as more glossy than matte - similar to the white Nokia N9. Specs wise, the white Lumia 800 is the same as its siblings - meaning 1.4GHz Snapdragon SoC, 8MP camera and 3.7" AMOLED CBD display.
What do you think? Would a white Lumia 800 interest you, or would you prefer to wait for the inevitable white Lumia 900?

The Nokia Lumia 710, announced at last year's Nokia World, is Nokia's second Windows Phone device. The Mango-powered smartphone will be making its way across stores worldwide.
The Lumia 710 is Nokia’s attempt at making Windows Phone cheaper and accessible to the market. While the Lumia 710 can be considered an 'entry level' Windows Phone, the specs says otherwise. Unlike entry level Android phones for example, the Lumia 710 features the same speedy 1.4GHz Snapdragon SoC that powers the Lumia 800.
Apart from the same processor and graphic accelerator, the Lumia 710 differs from using a different screen technology (Clear Black LCD vs Clear Black AMOLED), running on the same 480x800 resolution. Unlike the screen on the Lumia 800, the display here uses traditional RGB matrix rather than much maligned PenTile.

The camera is a 5MP variety with a LED flash. While it ins't a Carl Zeiss branded, the camera is capable of taking 720p videos. While the Lumia 800 shares the same body as the Meego-powered Nokia N9, the Lumia 710 is a Nokia 603 after undergoing a Windows Phone transplant. The 1300mAh battery is disappointing, but at least it is replaceable.
Despite the use of plastic, the 710 feels solid and comfortable to ...

Bloomberg reports that if analyst figures are to be believed , the Nokia Lumia series of handsets might have shipped in excess of 1million handsets so far. The figure was achieved by taking an average of the input from 22 different analysts , in other words it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Storebrand Asset Management fund manager Espen Furnes said. “If Nokia is able to have a strong launch and surpass at least 1 million and keep that type of momentum, this would help put them in a credible position that is crucial to winning back investors.” Nokia unveiled its first US centric handset ie the Lumia 900 at CES which it hopes would help it make a dent in the North American market. The phone will be sold by AT&T and will come with onboard LTE support. With MWC right around the corner , we expect to see the next round of Android handsets with the latest Android 4.0 OS and super powered specifications. Do you think the Nokia 900 will be sufficient to compete and drive sales ? We would love to hear your comments on it !

Nokia Lumia 900 would be available in UK this June, according to retail re-seller Carphone Warehouse in UK. Nokia unveiled the Lumia 900 for AT&T US on their 4G LTE network earlier this month at CES 2012.
The Nokia Lumia 900 comes with a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) AMOLED CBD display, 1.4 GHz Single core CPU, Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, 720p video recording, Dual LED Flash and 1.3MP secondary camera, 512 MB RAM and 16 GB internal memory . The connectivity features include, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, LTE (Downlink 50 Mbps, Uplink 25 Mbps). It is 11.5 mm thick and weighs 160 g and has a 1830mAh battery.
You can pre-register for the Nokia Lumia 900 from Carphone Warehouse but there is no expected price or exact release date. The LTE is not mentioned anywhere in the site. LTE is just in trial stage in UK. We have to wait till we get more details at MWC 2012 next month. It is expected to be available in the US from AT&T in March.

Windows phone is not very popular, but we all know that Nokia has taken up Windows Phone as it's primary O.S and marketed the Lumia 800, their first Windows Phone without any boundaries. From deadmau5 concerts in London to free Xbox, Lumia taxis in India. We can see that Nokia is serious about these devices and are trying to make Windows Phone popular, well the Nokia Lumia 900 is on it's way to U.S and will be the first flagship device to enter the American shores after many years of absence in the American market.
Nokia and Microsoft have decided to raise the bar in marketing their mobile phones, they spent loads of money in marketing the Lumia 800, I am not sure if their sales were great and whether the marketing has paid off or not but I am sure that many people have used Windows Phone and aware of Windows Phone Operating System and Nokia's devices. I myself experienced the Lumia 800 at a mall where the Lumia promoters performed a flashmob to get attention of all the people to their stall in which they were promoting the device.
Well, we had the Verge telling it's readers that the Lumia ...

If you thought that the Nokia N9/Lumia 800 designs looked slick, then you have to take a look at the Nokia 1 tablet concept by yronimus. The concept is certainly one of the best looking tablets that we've seen if not the best.
The concept runs on Windows 8 and according to rumours, Nokia is planning on releasing a Windows 8 tablet in 2012. It is based on the Nokia Lumia 800 design but is much slimmer and retains the monoblock design.
The specifications of the device are:
	187.6 x 293 x 8.5mm , 580 grams
	Windows 8 OS ARM Edition
11.6" AMOLED Display with 1280x800 Pixels Resolution
	32GB or 64GB Internal Memory, 2GB RAM
5 Megapixel Camera with Full 1080p HD Video Recording at 30 FPS, 2 Megapixel Front Facing Camera
	7500 mAH Battery
We hope that Nokia at least takes a few design cues from this concept and if the end product looks anything like this, then we're going to have a best design winner for sure.

Nokia has been crazily promoting it's Lumia handsets in India under the Amazing Everyday banner and I'm sure none of you might have missed the news (Even my mom knows about it !). Nokia launched the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 in India. Nokia had offered Taxi rides and much more to early adopters and now looks like Samsung is following Nokia's footsteps with the launch of it's Omnia W Smartphone in the country. Watch the Samsung Omnia Taxi after the break and Nokia Lumia Taxi in action.
Samsung seems to have parked Samsung Omnia Taxis outside Nokia stores in an attempt to woo consumers. The Windows Phone battle has just begun in India !

Nokia has started selling the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 in India few days back. Although we did not experience any dramatic problem with battery life on the Lumia 800 , looks like some users are facing battery life issues on the devices. Nokia India has issued a statement to FoneArena to clarify the same. Nokia says that a software problem is preventing some units from accessing the full battery capacity and that a software fix is coming in early 2012 which would address this issues and improve battery life for those units. Also let us know how good or bad the battery life on your Lumia is !
India impact will be minimal since we just started shipping. Therefore, If a consumer buys a Nokia Lumia 800 today, there is absolutely no impact. Nokia will go the extra mile to delight their consumers especially with a flagship product like Lumia 800
“Following global reports of examples where the preloaded Diagnostics tool in the Nokia Lumia 800 was showing lower than expected levels of full battery charge capacity we immediately conducted extensive testing on the devices at a global level.
Following the tests, we can now confirm that while the battery in the ...

When Nokia announced it's first Windows Phone at Nokia World couple of months back at London , I seriously did not expect the Nokia Lumia 800 to go on sale in India till 2012. But Nokia India just sold the first set of Lumia 800s to customers who had pre-booked the device at Ambience Mall in Gurgaon near New Delhi last night at 10 p.m. Customers had to pay Rs.29999 for the device.Nokia had roped in Tennis star Sania Mirza to hand over the devices to the customers. One FoneArena reader was amongst the first few who purchased the device and shared the photos from the event and unboxed it for us. Find the pics below.
Nokia has managed to get the device in the hands of the consumer in India in under 50 days since the global announcement. Impressive stuff ! Nokia India MD D Shivakumar acknowledged that Windows Phone was a new religion for Nokia at the company's annual strategy summit recently. Now lets wait for the feedback on the street about the first Nokia phone running Windows ! Nokia has lost a lot of it's smartphone market share to high-end Android phones and iPhones. Windows Phone can be a ...

The HTC Radar marks the beginning of the next generation Windows Phone 7 devices. The fledgling OS had previously failed to grab much of market share owing to its lack of several basic features including multitasking , copy paste but with Mango onboard , WP7 stands a definite chance to make a dent in the market.
The Radar is one of the first few devices to natively run Windows Phone 7.5 ie Mango on it. Lets take a deeper look at it in the FoneArena HTC Radar Review.
Hardware
One look at the HTC Radar and you will immediately recognize the design fundamentals kept in mind during the development stage. The phone hardware focuses on minimalism and does so by using a very calming color combination of white and silver. It might not jump out seeking for attention but the phone is definitely very elegant. The unibody construction of the HTC Radar is a solid combination of plastic and aluminum. The white plastic segments not only add to the aesthetics but also let the phone maintain a good signal connection.
The front of the phone is dominated by a 3.8" SLCD screen. The screen is bright and vibrant. It retains good visibility even in ...

Microsoft has just made a correction to a statement they previously made. It seems that Windows Phone 7.5 does indeed lack support for NFC.
Last week, Will Coleman (Developer Evangelist and Product Manager at Microsoft UK) stated that Windows 7.5 does support NFC and that OEM manufacturers can enable it if required.
The statement has now been corrected by a Microsoft spokesperson who stated that Windows Phone 7.5 does not support NFC but Microsoft expects NFC enabled Windows devices to ship within the next year.
Microsoft currently holds around 14 NFC related patents and they have promised to bring support for NFC and more hardware choices to Windows Phone in 2012.

WP, although not perfect, has some features that really got me. There is room for improvement, and I'm perfectly happy in going that route, watching it grow and evolute. After the rather mediocre HTC Trophy I'm now using the Nokia Lumia 800, which simply is the best Windows Phone out there, period.
One of the discussion points I have always faced, has been "but there are no apps on Windows Phone". Well, i call it nonsense here. The Windows Phone Marketplace is constantly growing, and is getting filled with not only apps from the known brands, but also quality 3rd party applications, with some really cool ideas. Since people are still learning and are getting into Windows Phone since Nokia has joined the party, I thought it'd be a nice idea to put all my currently installed apps together, and wrap them up into a nice post. Ready? Here we go:

Remember when my good friend Stefanos Kofopoulos tortured the screen of the Nokia N8 in his famous video about a year ago? Well, Stefanos is at it again and sent over this video, where he puts the Gorilla Glass of Nokia's first Windows Phone, the Lumia 800 through it's paces. This video, posted over at his pestaola.gr blog is not for the faint hearted though, Stefanos does not hold back, scratching all over the display with keys, coins and even a Swiss Army knife! I don't know about you, but those scratching sounds just made me cringe. Horrible stuff. What happens to the display you ask? Check out the video after the break and make sure to watch in full HD for full proof and enjoy!

Nokia Stores across India have started to take Pre-orders for the first Windows Phone device from Nokia , the Lumia 800. Most Nokia Priority Stores across the country have the device on display as well. In case you wanted to check out the 1st Windows phone from Nokia , you can walk in and get your hands on the device. In order to reserve your unit , you must pay a small advance in the range of Rs.1000-2000 and the device will be made available in the next 10 days according the the store. The final retail price of the Lumia 800 is not yet fixed due to the fluctuating dollar we assume, but the person in a store hinted at a final retail price of Rs.30000-33000.
Also only the Black variant would be available initially followed by the Blue and Pink. The cheaper Lumia 710 is expected to be available only in Jan 2012.
