Airtel has partnered with Nokia Networks to deploy FDD-LTE on 1800 MHz in six new (Mumbai, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal) circles across India, as expected. Last year Nokia Networks grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that included India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation. Nokia Networks reportedly bags Rs. 1240 crore 4G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has bagged Rs 1,240 crore ($200 million) contract from Bharti Airtel to build 4G network in the 1800 MHz band in six telecom circles, according to ET.  Airtel will soon announce the deal that will cover Mumbai, MP, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Kerala circles, according the report.

At the Redmi Note 4G launch, Airtel partnered with Xiaomi to sell the smartphone through Airtel flagship stores across six cities in India. The smartphone went on sale on Flipkart on 30th December for Rs. 9,999 in the first flash sale, and 40,000 units sold out in 6 seconds. Now Airtel has started bookings for the Redmi Note 4G smartphone on the official website. Airtel announces exclusive VoIP pack at Rs. 75 for 75MB

Few days after announcing that it will charge separately for VoIP calls at standard data rates of 4p/10 KB on 3G and 10p/10 KB on 2G, Airtel today announced that it will introduce new VoIP exclusive packs for its pre-paid customers soon. The VoIP exclusive pack costs Rs. 75 for 75MB with 28 days validity. It is not clear if this pack is applicable for all 2G, 3G and 4G customers. Airtel now charges for VoIP data on Skype, Viber and other apps even with data packs

Airtel has started charging extra for VoIP calls on 3G and 2G in even if you are using packs. So, if you are using Skype to call others using Airtel 3G for 30 minutes that consumes about 60MB, you have to pay for the data charges separately, and it will not be deducted from the 2G or 3G data pack you are using. Nokia Networks has announced that it has grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that includes India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation, refarming 900 MHz to complement Mumbai’s existing 3G network on 2100 MHz. This would enable advanced radio platform and services, thus improved 3G services for Bharti Airtel’s customers in Mumbai, West Bengal and Bihar telecom circles, said the company. Ericsson partners with Airtel for 4G LTE rollout

Ericsson, leading provider of communications technology and services has partnered with Airtel for 4G network services for the 4G LTE rollout in India. Airtel had already partnered with Huawei and ZTE for 4G rollout in the past. Ericsson also announced that it would launch Radio Dot System and the RBS6402 picocell in India and enter into Small Cell Portfolio in the country. These would enable Indian telecom operators to optimize indoor coverage.

Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Nashik

Airtel has launched 4G services in Nashik, Maharashtra. The company launched 4G services in Pune, Maharashtra in 2012. It launched 4G services in Nagpur last week. Nashik is the 15th city in the country to get Airtel 4G. Customers in Nashik can access 4G on dongles and Wi-Fi CPEs (Customer Premise Equipment/ routers), but the company has not launched 4G on mobile in the city yet.
